Sell him to RM for 80M, reinvest and move on. He's never signing a new contract and despite being a sublime defender (at times) he's not a leader and we need types like that to turn this club around, whether they are brought in or grow into one over time.

Let him do the time honoured thing of going to RM to be a part of, but not the driving force, a successful club that will win some pots during his time as they always do.

Frankly, the choices made for club captain and vice captains leave a lot to be desired in hindsight. Then again, who else is there at the club? Hey, we might have just stumbled upon a problem that needs addressing going forward...

If we sell him you just know we will replace him with Vuskovic though.

Go on then. Explain this shit show underneath, specifically Romeros part. Forget anyone else's part.
It's one of too many ways in which we are vulnerable to conceding goals. I could see in the first half that we were struggling with Brighton's crossing.

I do think his head has been turned by the rumors of interest by Madrid and I cannot see him signing a new contract with us. This seems like the most logical move to sell him and try and maximize what we can get for him while his stock is a high as it is. Shame as on his day, he can be a really impactful defender but it seems like he doesn't' care as much or doesn't feel the need to really give his all anymore.

This is basic defending. Stay goal side of your man, don't let him out of your sight, be first to the ball. I really do hope Ange drives this home to him and the rest of the team. These type of errors at this level are not acceptable, it has to stop.
100%, I bet if that was at the other end Lewis Dunk would be all over Solanke. Touch tight, grabbing his shirt, his arms anything to stop him scoring.

Dragusin/Vuskovic is certainly the most likely. If only they'd spend that 80M on some attacking players instead eh?

I'll admit to being somewhat down RN. Not so much with Ange or any individual player specifically, or even the form etc but I dunno, these growing pains are one thing. I just have zero faith that they'll be rewarded by the club itself getting TF out of its own way and finally pulling the trigger next summer and completing the job, even with a nice fat war chest from a sale or two with which to do so.

Hope springs eternal.

Isn’t he in Florida? I think it’s Miami, but I still wouldn’t wanna be in that area!

Kane performed on top level until his departure whereas Romero looks at the moment like a pub league player with his constant lapses. Should be benched right about now.
Kane also missed preseason, start of the season and had 1 goal until december.
There’s one reason of Romero „poor form” and it’s this

I mean does that really make him forget/ignore the basic fundamentals of defending 3 times in 7 league games?

I'm hopeful he'll find form again, but I think it's incredibly generous to suggest all of his troubles are solely due to him having a busy season last year.

I hope he gets a rest on Saturday and Dragu starts. It is the logical thing to do. Both Radu and VdV will have a day’s more rest and will have done far less traveling. Likewise, Im sure we will see Biss start over Bentancur for the same reasons.

Romero could use a week off. As he does seem to be having lots of mental lapses this season. Not putting that all down to fatigue, but nor can it be dismissed completely as a contributing factor.

I think people should chill a bit over Romero, he's had a couple of poor games. So will all of our best players. What's really important is that the club has top quality defensive coaches, because the talent is certainly there if it can be applied.

I'm struggling at times to see what impact the "top quality defensive coaches" are having to be honest.

I think he's tried to be more controlled and less aggressive and it's actually impacted negatively on his game. As happened with Dele.

Have to disagree. The controlled aggression is much needed, far too many yellows and reds before. The problem now is he loses tactical discipline and bursts out from the back line when he doesn’t need to which has been leaving us very exposed at times and it’s led to conceding goals, that’s the problem at the moment

I love this place. We have a player who is simultaneously not good enough for the Mighty Tottenham whilst also expecting RM to cough up £80M for him!

I'm wondering if he plays this weekend. He's playing late Wednesday night in South America and we have the 12:30 kick off on Saturday.

That's gonna be a slog for him.
