I think he'd be a good captain but it's Vertonghen for me.
Jan was brilliant throughout his Spurs career but I thought Toby reached a level for one or two years where he was the best in the world. That back line of Walker, Jan, Toby and Rose had everything. Loved that team so much.

Absolutely , I see suggestions on SC that we wait on buying proven Prem players and mebbe wait til next summer when the market may be kinder/kids better etc.

Me, I think time is of the essence to hang on to players like Romero and keep Ange.

We have another 5 match defeat run, Ange's position will become shaky and it all unravels. As it stands we're sending out the same team that had those defeats at Leicester.

It's critical to get the fricken players in now.
This is it. Sick of hearing we should keep powder dry. Top players won’t stay here forever, or be at the peak of their powers forever like we will start to see with Sonny. We also have zero issues with cash or PSR.

As Ange says we need to improve at a greater rate than the opposition.

We need to start having more 8/10 windows and not 6/10 ones that we’ve been used to. The January window last season was excellent, however we’ve not quite matched that momentum so far in this summer one. There’s obviously a couple of weeks to go but if the window ended now it could not be more than a 6/10.

My concern is that we are still a couple of players short, and then next season we have to replace Romero and we just end up treading water by being too cautious and not seizing the moment.

Pushing the boat out on just one more huge upgrade this window could be absolutely massive.

Toby was top class but I always thought Vertonghen was the slightly better player. JV did struggle with fitness a little more than Toby though.

I'd take Toby in a purely CB role, but Vertonghen was also terrific on the left side of a three, or even at left-back (e.g. Dortmund at home that time), making him better for the squad overall.

How have so many people been taken in by a "quote" posted by some random Spurs fan account that nobody else has reported...

As our most senior defender and vice captain it is unforgivable that he saw Barry, chose to ignore him and didn’t ensure he was handing him off to someone else. Very very poor and the prime reason we didn’t win.

The prime reason ? Come on. 😳
Well yes, how is it not. Without it, it finishes 1-0 to us. Yes we must be more ruthless. Yes we must create more clear cut chances. Yes we must keep intensity up for more the whole match, yes we must upgrade wide forwards, yes we need to manage subs better, yes we must do a million other things, but the prime reason we drew today is because Romero saw their most dangerous player alone in the box and ran past him.

Does it quite a lot to be fair
