BIG new contract on the table, talks have been positive. 🤞

I will add though that Madrid remain keen bts.
Thanks Trix and lets hope he signs it. Ange has made him VC and said he wants the others to be more like Romero, he's a world class defender and world cup winner and he really matured big time 2nd half of last season. Hope we can keep him.

Great news on the contract offer, hopefully we get it done.

R.E no5, expecting Micky to take it.

I would guess the clause would be extremely high, in excess off 100M. Please don’t take this as facts.
I agree. As most deals are in euros, it will need to start at €120m for us to receive £100m. Therefore, I would hope that the clause would be in the region of €150-€160mill possibly higher to ward of interest. That gets us £125-135 million.
Personnally, I would rather keep him but unfortunately we are not top of the food chain.
Great news on the contract offer though!

Not heard anything about any clauses etc so who knows. I also got the feeling mate, that I may be a bit behind the curve on this from it was put to me. (y)

Its a bit strange really because I always say a player is worth what someone will pay for them but I genuinely believe Romero is worth £100mil to us and also to someone like real Madrid regardless of whether they would pay it.
He is as good as anybody out there right now and the only reason many in the UK dont think that is because of the reactions on Sky etc from the likes of Gary fkin Neville with all of his Ooooooh's that was a bit naughty and highlighting how rash he has been.

Very little has been said about how much more disciplined he has been this past season and how he was just seemingly effortlessly brilliant pretty much game after game

Would be amazing if he signed a contract now. Was expecting him wait until next summer to see how our season goes before committing.

He will probably wait to see how we finish the window before signing anything.

Let’s hope the club can show him that we’re ambitious.

Romero signing a new contract would be bigger than any signing for me. Must be about the best cb in the world
Agree.

I think it'd be hard to find someone who fits us as well as he does - for me, it's not really his defending that i doubt we could replicate, it's the composure on the ball and ability to pick those passes through the lines that i think sets him apart. Dragusin, for example, was superb as a defender in the Euros, but i highly doubt he could pass as well as Cuti and i think that'll show when he rotates with Cuti - which is not to say Dragusin looks a bad passer of the ball, i just think Cuti is exceptional at passing and remaining calm in possession. If he did sign a new contract that would be as big a statement as buying in a £60-£80m player (although obviously lets do both !).

Really seemed to buy into Ange and the project last year. Seems to have really taken to being part of the leadership group. Clearly loves London too.

Probably our last chance to get him on a new deal, hopefully we can get it done. Real Madrid really are sneaky fockers so I'll be surprised if he does.

He's clearly proven at international level that he's a man for the biggest stage, so we need to get back there. Would love to see him and Sonny lift a trophy this year!

Seeing people wax lyrical over Romero just makes me appreciate Paratici so much more now... I was skeptical at first about him due to only shopping in the Italian league but he proved his true worth with so many of our signings.

I wonder if he still has any involvement or has he completely cut ties with us.

When he says "We love London" what he means is his wife loves London and that's the biggest trump card in our pack even if he does like it too.
