Eriksen was often great. Less so as he ran down his contract. Good memories. Big thumbs up. But we’ve moved on and the team dynamic is very different under JM. Always welcome back but not as a Spurs player.

Like I said before, why should we help save his career when him and his agent tactically bent us over a barrel and forced us to sell him cheaply? I won’t forget the fact he publicly asked to leave just 4 days after our CL final loss in a game where he produced absolutely fuck all.

Fuck him. I’m much happier seeing him rot on Inter’s bench than ever come back to us. Prick.

So this is really your view after 7 years of service?

The point being - we need depth in the squad to ensure we have sufficient creativity once our first team are out. Which of course is right.

But is the right answer, bearing in mind whoever came in would likely be back up, not be to find a younger (frankly cheaper) player (a youngster for instance) who would be more prepared to act as a back up and who could develop?

As much as I loved him as a player in his prime, I think we should be looking elsewhere.

£200k a week for a 28 year old back up feels wrong
Yeh, wouldn't disagree.

Yes it is.

Actually the fact he spent so long here makes the way he left even more despicable. He never gave any indication whatsoever for years that he wanted to leave, we offered him more money than what he’s currently on at Inter Milan then when it came to his last 18 months, his agent went AWOL and refused to engage in talks with the club. He did an exclusive interview with a big newspaper in Denmark 4 days after we lost the biggest game in the club’s history saying he was leaving. He bent us over a barrel and made us sell him quickly and cheaply when we could’ve easily gotten close to £80m for him when he was in his prime.

I’m not expecting you to agree, your username is evidence of that, but if you think Eriksen was an angel in the way he left and should be welcomed back by us to save his career, you’re unbelievably blinkered.

Presume you felt the same about Gareth Bale returning given he agitated for a move, skipped training, him and his agent bent us over a barrel etc.

I did at the time, yes. As every fan did. However he wasn’t churning out 2/10 performances for 18 months and running his mouth off to the press. He left us at the very top of his game and went on to be the most successful British export ever. We were also a very different club to what we are now. Bale was so far above our quality as a club. He also didnt run his contract down. Eriksen was lucky to be starting for us, let alone agitating for a move elsewhere. The fact he now sits on the bench on a weekly basis is testament to that.

I wouldn’t take him back personally as think we’ve moved on system wise playing with two wide wingers and may leave is to open - this is why Dele is now struggling to get back in.

Ndombele and Lo Celso are way forward and we need another all round midfield if anything.

Eriksen’s form has been very poor carrying over to Inter too, wonder if he has a physical injury that is inhibiting him or maybe it is a mental health issue that he is struggling with?

It's too soon for Eriksen to return imo. I want a younger and hungrier player. Preferably HG. I see that Brooks is mentioned. Good pick. Also like Maddison

I was tempted by this in the summer but, nah now tbh. We've clearly proven we're a creative force this season and whilst we might struggle with creativity without Ndombele and Lo Celso why not just bring in a young HG option to provide 'creativity cover'. It probably makes more sense to explore deals for the likes of Brooks and Cantwell than Eriksen in that case. The big money on fees and wages needs spending at the back now, and we should probably start keeping our powder dry for a keeper to replace Lloris in a couple of years.

That's a lot of bollocks.

It was never about the money as stated in the Amazon doc, it was about a new experience - so it's really about Eriksen being a total idiot or Levy failing to get big money? Or was it about keeping our best players in our prime as a team to try a win that damn tropy? Or whatever you feel was the right thing to do.

All he ever said was to the press was a new experience after 7 years, can you really blame a footballer for that? After giving absolutely everything for the club & being one of the very best in the PL for that time.

18 months really??? How many times have we heard that. Was it the same period as we were pretty crap as a whole team? Oh I believe so. People wanted Kane sold and Son were just never world class. Come on. Try and see the big picture.

Instead you go man hunting on a player who clearly doesn't deserve it for some called fans. Pathetic behavior.

And no Eriksen is no angel, but he was one of our best players for nearly a decade and very underappreciated.

I don't want him back it's a no from me, but could see why he & we wanted to do the deal.
If he came I don't think he would be more than a squad player though.

If we are looking to spend more money on improving the team we need proper competition / back up for Hojbjerg in DCM, and a top drawer CB to replace Toby.

Eriksen was my first Spurs jersey. He was my favorite player for years. It was sad watching how it all ended up, but I loved watching him play.

Plus, I got to see him score an absolutely worldy in person at the only match I've ever attended live, so I will always, ALWAYS consider him a club legend in my heart,

Was a quality player for us and the stats back that up despite what some people want to convince themselves. However, I'm not that keen on bringing him back, mostly because I don't see where he fits in in our preferred system. His best position is as a 10 and while I'm sure he could do some sort of a job in a midfield 3, if that's a position we've identified as needing more bodies in, I don't really see why we'd shoehorn Eriksen in there rather than just buying someone who plays there naturally.

We've already got a stats player who can't get in the team right now.. because we finally have a manager that sees beyond numbers.

He'd need to show more than he did in those last 2 years of the 7 for me to want him back.

If we really want to play with a 10, we already have a player who fits the bill (who spookily wears the 10 shirt). Stick Vinicius up top with HK at 10 would be a lovely experiment IMO.
