Being able to spend your 18-30 year old ages in Amsterdam, London and Milan sounds pretty fucking awesome.

I’m gonna miss the hell out of this guy. My favorite spurs player, an absolutely incredible player and was so key to our success in the Poch years. His assist vs Chelsea in the FA cup semi to Dele was the best pass I’ll provably ever see from a Spurs player.
Have you never seen Glenn Hoddle mate?

I don‘t begrudge him and his family wanting to go and live abroad and experience a different culture, but I do begrudge the way he’s gone about thIngs.

Agree...you always do what's best for your family! The issue I have is that he is a PROFESSIONAL footballer who gets paid MILLIONS to play a game that he is supposed to be the best in the world at. Much of that money comes from fans that support him and his squad.

The least he could do is give consistent effort and act like he cares. Take Sissoko for example, dude was hot garbage for 2yrs, but he worked his nuts off for the club/fans.

Would everyone be delighted to see him leave if we don't replace him?

Couldn't give a shit any more, which is a damn shame because for so long he was a model professional.

I just want him out at this point.

Ideally we'd bring a replacement in this window, but between Lo Celso, Ndombele and Gedson I think we've got it pretty much covered, especially when you take in to consideration what little Eriksen has contributed recently.

Of course he is but so is the team so why focus vitriol on Eriksen? That was my point.
My original point was around why fans have started to turn on eriksen and him showing a lack of commitment. You’ve turned it into a form reason to suit argument - other players are out of form compared to 3 years ago as I agreed - but others are still showing commitment and want - you cannot say that about eriksen, hence fans turning on him??

Put some massive performances in over the years. His goal v Brighton at the end of last season, his goal v Palace in the year we chased Chelsea to name but two of many stand out moments he had.

Such a shame it ends the way it does. He could have left on a high after the CL final if he'd bothered his arse

I know we could have sold him for a lot more if he had longer on his contract, or if he left sooner - but we paid a tiny amount for him and with his goals and assists he has repaid that a thousand times over. It's easy to aim vitriol at him, but he's been here however long now, he wants to experience something else and maybe even... Win something...

His performances haven't been good, but the whole team has been mostly shite since January last year. Maybe they go hand-in-hand and maybe we're going to find it harder than we think to move on from Eriksen. Idk
This is something that really grates... he could have won the biggest trophy of all club competition the Champions League, but he [alongside other teammates] put in a limp performance. The idea that he may want to move to win something given that background grrrrrr

Can you imagine him now with the quality of surfaces and protection from refs!!
There’s still no one out there to match his technique and vision. I’d worry about pace, workrate and physique, but training methods have moved on, so maybe he’d have bridged that gap anyway. Dele seems to cope, with nowhere near Hodd’s skills.

And how to measure ‘showing commitment’? Because as I have already said Eriksen was never the type to tear around flying into tackles.

Agree with everything. The only pass I can think of that may come close was one to Llorente in CL.

I think the problem was his honesty and opening his mouth during the CL final. He would probably still be in the same boat if he hadn't said what he said since he wasn't signing a new contract. However, the quote exacerbated the problem.

People now associate his desire to leave with his loss of performance, hence the vitriol deserved or not. We really don't know if it is cause and effect but it is the most obvious reason. It seems to me that quite a few players were burnt out, not just CE, and whether that was due to the stress of playing too much, Poch's training sessions or Poch's strategy or a combination so your point has validity. Others have posted his health issue as possibly being a contributing cause. As stated in an earlier post, the fact that Poch and Jose continue to play him suggest the issue may be more reasonable than we all know.

(I wouldn't even discount the "Happy Wife, Happy Life" but that is way too far over the top conjecture. )

I suspect when the dust settles and all comes out, if it comes out, we'll probably not be as harsh on him as many currently are. But he does need to move on.

I disagree on Lo Celso, I think he's better centrally than out wide like Son or Lucas.
He doesn't quite have the explosive pace of those two but is better in tighter situations.

yes GLC is definetly best in the central position.

Eriksen’s current situation brings to mind that old Portuguese proverb: a wise man does not rest his testicles in the blender until the plug is on the table

This is one where I certainly just want him to go now, least of all because getting anything for him is better than nothing in a few months. And as everyone says, he's hardly going to provide much on the pitch in that period of time. But I'm certainly going to be sad to not see his name on the teamsheet or even in the squad anymore, last few months aside. He was my favourite player for many years. For 5-6 years he was a key part of the team and gave us something extra, and for 2-3 of those years he was probably our most important player.

Even though it didn't win anything, that 2016-2017 team will live long in my memory, and he along with Dembele were the jewels of that midfield. This time last year though he started to really fall off a cliff. He had become a liability, almost costing us at various points with some ridiculous play, and generally conveying a lacklustre attitude. I just wish that was it and he went last summer for a little more than he's going for now, and without the last 6 months which have done the best to ruin his legacy with us. It's a shame for him as well, he's stalling in his prime years. That's what Modric knew back in the day, he couldn't just have a season going off the boil, whose to say Madrid would have still been interested if he did, whose to say he'd have got his form back ... Eriksen didn't really have the same attitude, which is a shame and one of the reasons why he's off to Inter and not Madrid (nothing against Inter there, its a good move for him when all is said and done). But still, I wish him well, and will ultimately remember him and his time here positively.
