Just moving this into here, regarding the bit early on of (paraphrasing) "I nearly swerved my car off the road when I heard Eriksen was on £80k/week - a player of that ability, it's no surprise he wants a pay rise".

One of the reasons I value these journos for their information but not their opinions - a lot of them are really dense, and not analytically capable - how do they expect he'd be on more than that? It's been 4 years since he last signed a contract, and he's apparently rejected several new ones. He could have been on twice that for the last 18 month, I bet.
Sure, it makes sense when you know the whole story, but taken in isolation it's still a very surprising fact.

If you told the average, non-Spurs supporting football fan who doesn't keep tabs of contract negotiations that Eriksen was still only on 80k after being one of the most consistent midfielders in the league for 5 years I bet they'd be shocked. I think this is the angle he was coming at it from.

That's his fault though - it shouldn't be used to perpetuate the "stingy club" moniker, which was their angle.

Yeah fair enough. I don't mind these new young journos and generally prefer them to the congealed slabs of self-satisfied shite that populate the Sunday Supplement, but they do come across as a bit amateurish at times - like a bunch of third year uni students chatting down the pub.

Another problem I've had since we appointed Mourinho is the amount of times I've heard "This makes no sense. This goes against Tottenham's way of doing long-term projects."

I understand where they are coming from, but not once have I heard that maybe it's just taking advantage of the fact that we have Kane and Son entering their primes now and that the only way of keeping them for another couple of years was to prove that we have ambition? They all seem to take for granted that Kane will simply stay for another 5 year rebuild and see what happens when the young players have developed under a new, probably inexperienced, manager. At the same time they are linking Kane to other clubs everytime they get a chance...

I don’t think they’re dense, I think they affect ignorance to exploit a narrative in a number of ways. Journalists pay for Christmas, and any other bills, with words. The more popular their words, the more words they can type and say, the greater the income. I think it’s cynicism rather than stupidity. The real stupidity lies with the dumb fucks who consume, unquestionably, their words

Was listening to that Athletic spurs podcast and one of them said he used to have to report ridiculous things jose used to say even though he knew Jose didnt mean them as he was protecting his team but you couldnt just ignore it as it would generate the clicks.

Unquestionably true.

This is true but just like there is a percentage of bad in every culture, same too with journalists. I dont think that constuency is any worse than any other.

Hopefully his last appearance in a Spurs shirt.
Harsh.
He really wasn’t that bad. It was always going to be difficult playing when we park the bus/team long ball/and play with a lesser team and have like 20% possession. Let me guess you think GLC did well?

But that’s 3 1v1 through ball that should have been goals. 2 to Son and 1 to Sissoko. Funny how people forget those huh.....

At least Jenas agrees with me...

I agree with you, personally .

I thought he was disinterested and poor, as he has been all season really

Le Celso was no better, probably worse in fact, but at this stage I really don't see the point in persisting to play Eriksen when he clearly wants to leave and is failing to produce in the meantime

The sooner he leaves the better, Le Celso needs game time to get up to speed (if he is ever to be good enough)

Just absolutely a wasted spot on the starting XI. He doesn't care about us, we shouldn't care about him anymore. Sell him for anything we can get and move on. From what was once one of my favorite players to watch to this, it's just so disappointing.

His effort at trying to block Coutinho's goal says it all. Feeble effort to lift his foot while trying to get away from it. Really pathetic that its come to this but he is done.

Really I cant stand him.I was never a fan.I always thought he did take what was given at one time but I never saw him as a game changer
I liked him. Didnt love him. Always thought we needed to sign a #10 to push him as he was very inconsistent. Never thought id see the day where he was consistent in his performances. But that day arrived in January of this year when he was giving consistent performances of not giving a shit. Annoying that he’ll be taking up a squad list spot and wages for another 6 months. He’s really done all he could to damage a bright Spurs career.
