He's become complacent over the years. There hasnt been anyone in the squad or brought in to compete with him for his place.

Thats why it seems like he's lost it

Nope. Even if he somehow grew up and decided to focus on his current club he could leave tomorrow and id be pleased. He’s blown his chances for me. His comments any time he can spout off to the media away from the club have been completely unnecessary at best. Couple that with his constantly unforgivable performances. He needs to go. I hope Jose drops him from the 18 entirely until he leaves(hopefully in January)

His one comment, that one time that maybe he was ready to take a step up in his career, is that what you mean? Or do you have more examples?
I agree about his performances, but considering what has come to light about Poch's antics the last year, I'll give him a chance to prove himself under José.

I prefer a 23 year old Lo Celso to a 27 year old Eriksen. And I'm a huge fan of the latter.

That’s a quote that needs context. 27 is middle of your prime. If you’re talking about transfer valuation or 10 year value being 23 is obviously an advantage, but if you’re talking who can help us in the next few years it’s irrelevant

I don’t think this is true at all. Who is competing for Harry’s place, or Messi’s at Barcelona? He’s started thinking about where else he wants to play, that’s the problem.

You've just compared him with two of the best players in the world with elite mentalities, they don't need other players to push them, they push themselves.

I think Eriksen was in desperate need of someone coming in to keep him on his toes but I agree with this - we're at a stage now where he has mentally checked out because he wants to play elsewhere.

One comment?!?!? Seriously? He spouted off immediately after the CL final. He spouts off immediately after the transfer window. He’s never missed an opportunity. Extremely unprofessional fucking off last season since January and the big clubs noticed which is why they were all nowhere to be seen in the summer. He’s only somehow gotten worse since then and now has added spouting off to the danish press to his bullshit. Fuck him.

If you have a player who is committed to the club I think they deserve a good chance to get back on form if they're going through a rough patch. On the other hand, if a player blatantly wants out, and there's no financial remuneration for the club, that player needs to be put aside in favour of somebody else who will give 100%. I've seen nothing from Eriksen for a very long time to suggest we should be giving him the game time he's getting. I'm sure the majority of our fans feel the same way.

Applying a bit of creativity here... Wouldn't it better for all if he signed a new decent 3 years contract, was sold in January on a very good deal to a very good club, and then Tottenham and Eriksen split the transfer fee 50/50. Tottenham would potentially get more money than nothing/next to nothing, and Eriksen would get more money than any sign-on fee as a free player.

Eriksen is a very good player when he's in the mood.

But he lacks a proper winning mentality.

I bet Jose is more than happy to let him go.

why get half the signing on fee when he can get all of it in 6 months

Doubt that's how it works. Don't think a club would ever pay a player as much in a sign-on fee as they would play another club to purchase a player still under contract. Of course the sign-on fee would be generous in relative terms, but I reckon still less than an actual transfer fee.

no but they spread it over the contract, that is why Ramsey is on 400k per week at Juventus, cant see why Eriksen would let us have half his money, he is in a much better position to wait and go on a free

It's better to have too many midfielders than too few as we have learned last season.

Of course. I just rate Lo Celso very highly and he's more of an allrounder than Eriksen. Eriksen was absolutely vital in our best sides, since he was just about the only attacking player with elite passing abilities. Now we've added more, and with Mourinho seemingly very interested in Bruno Fernandes, we're moving on.

I can see the upside for Tottenham, but not for the player or the team he'd be joining. If the buying team have to pay a transfer fee it's less money for wages and less money for a signing on fee.

Yeah but Eriksen sees himself in this elite pack of players hence his desire for this move.

how do you know this?

he may just fancy a new challenge after being at Spurs for 6 years and with a short career not that long left to try something new
