Player watch: Christian Eriksen

anything legitimate from Danish sources that suggest which way this could go - does CE stay or go from your point of view?

Danish sources all summer has been quoting other media stuff, and that's why I always was confident that he would stay with us this summer.
When Danish media write something from their own sources it's usually right, and they didn't.

Remember all Eriksen has said is that he wanted to try something new, and if not he loved Tottenham, and who knows maybe sign another deal.

All other that was said is media-bullshit.
He was basically a scapegoat for saying literally nothing, just because people buy into the media bullshit, so much that yankspurs and countless others in here, so called fans just told him to FUCK OFF. Like really? Grow up ffs.
Listen to the man and not the media.

Two weeks ago he said:
- You have been one of Europe's most talked about football players in this summer's transfer window. What do you think about that?

- For me it's not hard to clear my head. I don't read much of what is written. And now I have been involved for many years, where there have been many rumors every year.

- But it's clear that it's been a little more violent this year because my contract is about to expire, he explains.

- There has been a lot of difference about me. I should have looked at houses in Madrid, but I have to be honest and say that all that writing is not something that bothers me. At all, he states.

- Why is your point of departure not to talk about anything other than the national team?

- Because it's about the national team. For me, it's important to stay focused on those two fights.

- Do you not understand that there is interest in your future. Not just from us, but from all of Football Europe?

- Yes, I understand that well. I know a lot of people are interested in where to play. That's the way it is.

- But all the rumors running about you and other players, isn't it something you talk about among your teammates?

- Of course we do. We tease each other. This is how it is in a top club if you have done well. There will always be rumors. Whether it's me or a teammate it's all about.

For me personally looking at Eriksen's career over the last decade and the choices he's made - he's not a Tottenham player next season.

He has always been a humble down to earth guy who makes wise decisions, he honours his contract and respect the club he's playing for, that's also why he will be professional in his last year with us.
But like i said, he will go, he'll want something else than rainy London and experience more cultures with his football.

I cant remember the last time we booed one of our own players whilst they were still at the club.... if anyone did that I would be extremely disappointed and call them out !

Maybe not outright booing but there's definitely been audible "disgruntlement" at people like Sissoko, Llorente, Trippier in recent memory

Either way I think the point is more that it's in our interest to make Eriksen feel loved if we want him to stay.

Spurs: Here’s more money lad, sign the contract.

Eriksen: Money is not important. I wish to face a new challenge.

Spurs: Okay no problem. Well, how does more money sound?

Eriksen: :shifty:

Not this?

fair points WD.

One other, less likely scenario, is that he runs his contract down and then sees what comes his way from Real and Barca. If neither proposal is good enough he could still re sign with us. Hoping!

Im saying fuck off because its quite clear he doesnt want to be here. His mind is set and his head was turned as far back as January. Right after the CL final, he comes out publicly wanting to leave. He does not want to be at Spurs. The club knows it and even tried hawking him to Manchester United, of all clubs, just to get a fee. Good player but if he doesnt want to be here, then he needs to go.

At least Toby is still playing hard, has kept his head down and is not going to the press. Cant say the same for Eriksen who every time he goes to national team duty, he says something to the press about trying to get out of Spurs. It's extremely disrespectful. Talking about wishing it was football manager. I would be pleased if we dropped Eriksen from the team completely for the season after the way he's conducted himself. Sadly we dont have that luxury.

You want Hugo to fuck off too, then, since he doesn’t envisage himself retireing here?

Even though Eriksen had a sub par season last year, he still was one of our best players. Wanting him to fuck off for being honest about being open to a new challenge, is not very sympathetic.

Don’t do it to yourself. Eriksen I have do doubts in my mind will be off to Real Madrid on a Bosman. This is the plan from the beginning.

Remember you heard it here first.

What does "get behind him" mean exactly? I have ever heard him boohed, hes been offered a contract, hes been backed by Poch as far as I can see. Its up to him, a professional footballer, to decide if he wants to perform or not.
Shakespeare got this one: ‘making the beast with two backs’.

Sexual, like- which is lovely providing its consensual and takes place in a dwelling that doesn’t contravene decency laws, like, say, a football ground with 62,000 askance supporters. Fucking perverts, all of you

I agree he needs to go if he doesn't want to be here. But knowing Eriksen he's just as professional as Toby in his contract and want to do the best for the team when he play.

Eriksen is like Zlatan for Sweden. The Danish press is obsessed with him. And like I just posted, that's all he has ever said. Not something you just made up like: "Cant say the same for Eriksen who every time he goes to national team duty, he says something to the press about trying to get out of Spurs." Bollocks!

Like Poch said, it doesn't matter if the players have contract issues. If they perform in training and show they wanna fight, they play. Simple.
And you wanna play your best players don't you?

You and others saying he needs to fuck off, needs to grow up. He's easily one of our best players in the last 6 years, and has served us well, and instead of enjoying the maybe last season of him, you just wanna drop him. That's disrespectful mate.

Easy to say but we'd just be shooting ourselves in the foot. It doesn't exactly take a tactical genius to notice how much poorer we are when he doesn't play, so while he's here we may as well use him to make sure we finish the season as strongly as possible, thus giving us maximum prestige and money in the bank to convince a decent replacement to join us in the summer.

Should have fucked him off last summer. Now we not only get fuck all when he leaves in the summer, but a player who won't put any effort in all season but we can't drop because we're a lesser team without him.

He either signs a new contract now or he never plays for this club again. He has downed tools for going on two years now and has held this club to ransom whilst some fans continue to live inside the crevices of his arsehole for god knows what reason.

He is a disgrace. I was finished with him mid way through the season last year and now I’m at the point where I pray he fucks off in January.
