Who's to say that he wouldn't sign for United when his contract expires? At that point, we would have lost out on a fee and the premier leagues combined top scoring and assisting midfielder since 2016.

Unfortunately business is business. If Eriksen leaves us for them. His loss.

I think the club are planning everything on the basis he goes once the window shuts.

Want GLS and Fernandes but Eriksen staying means we can only get one. But what if we buy both? But what if Eriksen doesn't go? Well financial issues will be abound.

So we sign GLS but then Madrid put a low ball bid in after the window and he starts to play up.

Ok, sell him to United then? He doesn't want to go there...hmmm.

Therefore we need a quick resolution to this. How about a loan?

That's where I'm at. Don't know if its accurate but Mr Eriksen is causing us lot of headaches it seems

Agreed but Levy will have to take what he can get.

True. Have a feeling that Manu will pay a relatively high fee given that them getting Eriksen would be a coup and he could potentially be the difference between EL and CL for them next season. Plus Woodward is :LOL::LOL: when it comes to negotiating.

Let’s hope so?

Oh...this hurts on so many levels. For the first time this window I was close to mark a Herc post with a dislike... NOT because I don´t think it is true/possible - just because I don´t want us to.:(

Eriksen is one of my favourite Spurs players, and I´ve had a soft spot for him ever since he signed for Ajax in `08 and played for Denmark in the World Cup in South Africa in `10 at the tender age of 18. He has always had that something extra that very few players have. It was a dream signing when he signed for us - a Scandinavian heir to the empty throne after Hoddle, Ardilles, Waddle, Gazza...

I can understand and respect the economical aspect of selling him to Man Utd and securing funds to secure possible replacements (even though I don´t really see how it´s going to be possible given the time available - and our transfer history).

What I just cannot fathom is why he would go there? Yes - MU is a bigger club and it gives more status for many, but they have a poorer team atm and don´t exactely play Eriksen´s kind of football. I don´t think it´s about the money for him at all. If it was about the $, he would´ve signed an improved contract years ago. But more so: it just doesn´t fit his modus operandi. I know he always wanted to go to RM/Barca (possibly Juve), and the MU of 15-20 years ago I could´ve understood too. But the team they have now? The manager they have now? No - I just can´t get my head around it.

The only explanation is that he is forced/pushed/nudged out. Or..?

Of course: I understand that I might be totally wrong! But the football romantic in me is despeately hoping I´m not.:shy:

Personally (and since it´s not my money), I´d rather we sold him to a top (any) European club for half of what MU are offering. Because with him, they will really be a contender to be a top 3 team the way I see it. And would make our own road to securing the all-important CL-football next season and the following 4-5 years that much harder. In the long run that would cost us immensly more money than what we would get from selling him to MU. It would even most likely be more financially prudent and wise to let him go on a free to a non-PL club at the end of the season. Poch has shown us that he has no problems playing others in the same situation (Toby) - as long as they deliver on the pitch.

The big problem is of course: Barca and Juve most likely don´t need nor want/have room for him. Zidane doesn´t want him - at least not badly. The gamble for Eriksen to run out his contract and hope that there´s a new manager in Madrid next summer is exactely that: a gamble. PSG and Bayern Munich are probably the only clubs left of "acceptable status" outside the PL. No rumours of either being interested. So Eriksen might be risking to be ostracised at Tottenham, or to be the main man at Old Trafford. This obviously if there´s any truth in the speculations on him being pushed out.

The worst part of it all: if ManUtd do sign Eriksen, and they turn out as good as one might fear with him playing there, the Norwegian press will be constantly all over how brilliant OGS is as a manager, how great the bloody Man Utd are, etc., etc. Every PL-broadcast last season from the day he took over was more or less "OGS this, ManUre that", and the biggest story in the biggest newspaper was the OGS PL Table: showing the table counting only the matches from when he was appointed. It ran for months...! (*) :banghead::hungover::yuck::spitoutdummy:

I love your posts, Herc, and I´m truly grateful for all the info you´re sharing! But this time, I hope that you´re wrong. Yes, the club wants to sell - but that the player won´t go. Not to them. :sorry: Please, let it be so..! :angelic:

Edit! (*) Yes, I´m Norwegian and i bloody hate(!) the Norwegian press and broadcasters that are covering the PL: it´s only about either MU or LFC. And with OGS at the helm at OT, it just went ballistic over here last season. I can´t take one more season of this holier than thou, glorifying bullshit ...

Håll ut bror.

Should I put this on 3 threads? :ROFLMAO:

I thought the Atlantic didn’t go in for this kind of shit, only articles and the like, yet they are balls deep in the transfer window and click bait tweets like this a day after release! That lasted.

From football perspective surely CE to Utd is nothing more than a payrise. The manager isn't going to attract anyone other than Utd fans and legends as he is yet to prove much, they aren't playing CL football next season so all that leaves is their finances.
Also would spurs deal with a rival?
I hope he doesn't go there!

I can't believe levy would sell CE to united for 50m, wouldn't make sense helping their finances

It seems the United fans have been good enough to take on the heavy responsibility for incorrectly spelling his name.

So much so that they’ve got Erikson trending ??
