I think it's all part of Madrid trying to get Pogba, they may well want Eriksen too however they're prepared for a long game on that one, then you have UTD with a bunch of cash on the hip looking around for a CM.

Personally I hope Christian stays, our squad is far stronger for it than without, progressing and winning comps is a bigger fish than CE, would a trophy and a league win be worth it only to lose him on a free in a year?
We couldn't really drop anyone to the bench for poor form and rarely had an option to alter things from the bench. The number of benches in the PL alone that looked stronger or at least had more options than ours was quite worrying. Look up 'pools bench in the final and compare it to ours, this is partly where we need to "behave like a big club"

It'd be gutting to see him turn up at UTD etc on a free sure, unfortunately none of us have a crystal ball, heck I'll be gutted if UTD get Luka as part of the Pogba deal.

I don't get the vitriol CE is receiving though, especially by morons on twitter (great way to convince him to stay muppets) he hasn't had his greatest of seasons (then again few in our squad did) even I have been vocal at the TV about him, if he's had his head spun by Madrid mid-season then I'm more annoyed at them, there's no way we'd sell him to them in January so have some common courtesy and keep your advisors quiet until the season's done.

I wish him no ill-will, he'll be tough to replace if he does go and the fee we ask should reflective of that, "Christian you are a key player for us and we don't wish to sell, in the current climate we value you at £ X million, if we receive a bid close to that valuation then we will look at it. That much is our right as a club." obviously the risk is he becomes a free agent, the people who manage that risk Poch and Levy I trust between them they'll do what's right for the club and the playing staff.

The one other thing that has me pondering that letting him go may be exactly the right thing to do was that whole abdomen thing that occurred a while back.

I've seen all manor of valuations on here, perhaps best value is for a player or two in exchange but if that doesn't happen surely we could just add a sell-on clause percentage/win bonus' etc and get our short change back that way? I'm guessing Ajax have one with us for him?

So let's deal in some hypotheticals?

Let's say Real sign Pogba. Does that mean they no have no want or need for CE?

What does he do next?

Man U would obviously prob want him but does he want to swap us for them?

Also does Levy sell to an PL competitor if it means a decent fee for CE and him not leaving for free?

Then say we don't sell to Real or Man U this window, does CE sign a new contract, if even for short term or does he look to get back to Madrid on a free next year?

So many questions?

If Madrid tell Eriksen to piss off because they buy Pogba or ZZ throws a fit or whatever the reason, he isn't going to take that out on Spurs. He'll sign a new deal, probably with a release clause for his favorite clubs, and start trying to prove they made a mistake.

The danger here is if Madrid do want Eriksen, and tell him they want him, but offer well under what Levy wants for the transfer. That could easily get ugly, and end with CE feeling like Spurs broke their word and ruined his dream move, and that will lead to a very unsettled player intentionally running his contract down.

There are a lot of factors Basil.
What's Pochs view of Eriksen now,
We are obviously not his first choice
We don't need Eriksen.
Our future is good, better than most
There is no guarantee Eriksen will succeed at RM (to me he is more suited to Barca or Bayern where there is more structure in the teams)

With Ndombele plus two new creative players our forwards will flourish more than we ever have.
If Eriksen had any feelings for us he would sign for a year to give us a chance at getting back some money for his delays in getting back to us.We were played by RM and CE.

Eriksen would have to sell himself back to us if RM doesn't want him as Pochs probably now pissed at Eriksen.

If we get offered 50M for him let him go, especially as he go on a free next season, probably had his best days with us, not getting any younger, spend the 50 on an exciting young player who we can slowly introduce into the team, bobs ya uncle !

Had a dream last night he signed a new contract and we also signed Lo Celso. I dream cried when I dream saw the first lineup against a dream Villa.

I also dreamed we signed Moura a year before we did.

You fuckers owe me

I think he's leaving this summer for a fee or next summer without one. Not many players that have the options he will have would sign a new deal.

I’m not surprised Eriksen is disappointed that he hasn’t got his move.
When his agent came out and said he had offers last year, I’m guessing he was keen to go but when we failed to get in De Jong, Ndombele and Grealish we asked him to stay and promised to let him go next season.
Fast forward 12 months, he has had an average season and now the club he is keen on isn’t willing to pay to our value. He is stuck in limbo

Basil, i much prefer your original puppet, visually you had more character and looked cheekier. Your present incarnation comes across as a bit demented and structurally soft. Try not to take this too personally.

Really wouldn't want to sell him to a domestic rivals for those reasons. While personally he has peaks and troughs, since he came here he has consistently been one of the top creators. He may lack the stardust for Real but would significantly strengthen someone like Utd in the league, as he has done for us.

He's the kind of low-key, intelligent, team player that Utd really need too. He'd be absolutely huge for them.

Thankfully Utd practically never make smart signings so I doubt it'd happen.

His biggest issue is he only wants one team. That team was seemingly very keen and laid all the groundwork for a move, behind the scenes, up until March-May. They then changed manager and that one team doesn't care as much any more.

It's tough to re-engage after you think you're leaving your job. I went through this scenario about 10 months ago. Completely checked out of work as I thought I was going to be leaving, the opportunity dragged on and on. Eventually came to accept that it wasn't going to happen and really have to buckle down to get myself back and re-engaged. It's not easy but it can be done.
