he might be our hardest working but only fitness wise, he’s never seen a tackle he wouldn’t hide from. I’m not saying he has to be Sissoko but that moment with Mane in the final was pathetic

Yes that was why I stated he wasn't our "hardest" player.

When was the last time you saw Ozil, Hazard, Coutinho or any other similar type player get stuck in?

Even Bale protected himself from his last season with us and his career with Real.

It's just not a trait that needs to be associated with him - unless you're looking for reasons to slag him off.

And it's also a trait he's had from day 1 so hardly an indication that suddenly, this year, his "heart's not been in it".

He doesnt believe Tottenham is the type of club to challenge for the Champions League every season. We have to be honest about this statement
I don’t think that’s worrying at all, we all know that we’re not getting to the final year in year out

Would love to see us in for Ruben Neves at Wolves. Widely rumoured to be targeted by Scousers, but has the passing and dead ball skills we lose if Eriksen goes, amazing work rate and stronger than Eriksen defensively. Be very strong in a midfield 3 alongside Winks and Ndombele /Sissoko

Apologies if already posted.

That’s an interesting post. I did wonder whether the translation was correct. It’s so hard to know with journalists and what they report nowadays because nothing seems to be reported 100% correctly.

What’s obvious is, that there’s still all possibilities on the table and it will run for a while.

This was (re)posted on coys from 2015 from before he signed his current contract. It gives an idea of his mindset:

From someone very close to him I am told he is fairly ruthless. Football is business and we are a stepping stone. If we can fulfil his ambition he will sign a new contract if not he will move on and he makes no major secret of this

Pity he's not as ruthless on the pitch!

I think one of the problems is when the current crop of players who we signed over the last few years originally came along, they viewed us as a stepping stone, signing in the wake of the likes of Berbatov, Modric and Bale. Perhaps some stayed longer than they expected, Lloris and Eriksen for example, due to us progressing beyond expectation, but its hard to shift that original view when it is so ingrained. We have been elevated in the game since then and everyone behind the club seems to have yet loftier ambitions. Signing a new batch of players around the core brought through the youth system, who now are signing for us believing we can be the club to fulfil their ambitions rather than just being a mere stepping stone, might be the way to progress.

Kinda caught in 2 minds, I want him to stay because he's such a fantastic footballer. But on the other hand he's been way outta form god knows how long. 75 million would be a great deal, will be sad to see him go. Right now, I'd sell him and buy another midfielder, whoever the manager sees fit to bring in. Not surprised at all if his comments are in context. Move along

I agree to an extent but even with all the growth we can't compete with the Spanish giants - they're on a whole other level and will continue to be barring a hilarious Utd-esque prolonged fall from grace.

Even Utd in their pomp couldn't hold onto Ronaldo.

Melchor Ruiz, a journalist for COPE who is identified on Reddit as a Tier 1 (i.e. most reliable) source for Real Madrid, is saying that Eriksen is the first alternative if Madrid can't get their preferred signing of Pogba. That's consistent with reports that have been circulating for some time now, so it seems that the Pogba deal (or lack thereof) will determine what happens with Eriksen.

Wonder if there's any truth in the reported Juventus interest in Pogba, and his desire to go back there.

Yeah the "he covers the most distance" argument is rather tiresome to be honest.

The guy is a cracking player, that can not be denied. Anyone who does deny it is just a dick.

But he needs to have the added bonus of things like tackling & tenacity to make all that running worthwhile.

Mo Farah could sign for us & cover the most distance.

I still think he fits Barca, way better than Madrid.

He is not good enough for either imo.
Don’t get me wrong he has been great for us but I just don’t think he is better than our current level
