Player watch: Christian Eriksen

Stealing a living now. Getting paid 80 grand a week to do nothing on a football pitch for nearly a year. That is some life.

Dier
KWP
Rose
GLC
Sissoko

... so yeah. That's why.
Use your words then, instead of spraying negative ratings around. I'm not psychic.

And yet I don't see anyone disagreeing with me.
Eriksen has been bang average (and that's being generous) for almost an entire calendar year for us. You're defending him (presumably) because of national pride but he's been awful in so many matches (so bad that he actually stands out from the average badness of the team this year). He gets the ball taken off him for fun, he's mimsy, he won't put in a hard tackle, he barely puts in a tackle at all, his freekicks and set pieces used to be feared, etc.

Just makes your post even more "doh" that you can't see when a clearly hated player actually does something good. How objective of you all, clap clap.

If Son and Sissoko had scored those 3 1v1s the game would have been different. Who made those passes? GLC? Na he didn't do fuck all.
It was not even mentioned in the match thread, so comical.
So yeah people like you are so blinded I can't stand it, and that btw stands for ANY Tottenham player.

He has been shit i agree with that, but since Mourinho he has lighten up a bit, if he wants to be here or not. Everyone was shit in the last days of Poch. And if you can't see that, well then i'm done. Performances has been better in general, even though has hasn't been used, and rightfully so, and that's maybe why Jenas says Eriksen is closer to his original self.

As for last night I count:
- Multiple good corners/freekicks
- 3 through balls which led to a 1v1
- Some lovely build up play for the 1st goal, and some with Sessengon in the 2nd half
- Ran his arse off again
- We had 30% possession, what do you expect him to do with that
- According to whoscored, he was the Spurs player with the 3/4 best rating of all our players

I'll say it again. Blinded.

Yeah, it's everybody else that's blinded. Everybody's entitled to their opinion - if you weren't Danish (or have some affection for Denmark), you'd see him very differently. He is a shadow of the player he was a few seasons ago and I've seen nothing since Mourinho took over that suggests he's ever going to be even close to that player for us again.

You say multiple good corners/freekicks, that used to be the absolute standout part of his game. Look at players like Ward-Prowse or Harry Wilson - when they're lining up a free kick outside the box you think "oh shit this is going in" (I had that exact air of resignation when Wilson took that one against us when we played Bournemouth) - Eriksen used to be that player but he had much more to his game than any of them. He's regressed massively.

He doesn't want to be at the club anymore, he's refused multiple new contracts, we know he's leaving so get rid as soon as possible. The embarrassing thing for him was that he was desperately flirting with Real Madrid at the end of last season and they completely ignored him.

I liked him. Didnt love him. Always thought we needed to sign a #10 to push him as he was very inconsistent. Never thought id see the day where he was consistent in his performances. But that day arrived in January of this year when he was giving consistent performances of not giving a shit. Annoying that he’ll be taking up a squad list spot and wages for another 6 months. He’s really done all he could to damage a bright Spurs career.

Im convinced any of his inconsistency before these 2 seasons was due to him only succeeding when the other team was open. Great players do it despite the opportunities. They make them. I watch NDombele's creativity or Deles creativity and see that they make things happens that weren't there.
I think Eriksen is a technical player. Move the ball around until something opens up. But when it doesn't he becomes a victim not someone who will change it.
In these two seasons he mustered up nothing. Not in Madrid, the City of his love, not anywhere. He isnt a winner per se

The truth is that his performances have degraded significantly. He isn't terrible as WhiteDane points out but he he isn't above criticism and its the level of criticism that is debatable. It is doubtful that he is a cancer in the locker room given both Poch's and Jose's reliance on him. Going forward, if he isn't going to commit, I think most will agree that he doesn't deserve much playing time and that is for team development as well as leverage to get him out in January.

FUCK Eriksen! He has allowed himself to become such a cheese dick of a player.

With regards to this attitude, its completely understandable if he is a cancer on the team. It appears that the big problems the team has had over the last few years, as much as it pains me to say, was Poch's attitude. It wasn't just one player who's performance dropped off.

So for that reason, i'll always give him respect if he is still wearing our colors and contributes enough that the coach believes he can help on the pitch. I want to see him out, but he'll have my full backing and would hope that most Spurs fans are appreciative of his contributions even if we want him out sooner rather than later.

This is pure bias, he was crapper than crap and thats even being nice to him

As for last night I count:
- Multiple good corners/freekicks - So he didnt hit the first man every time like he does normal, that doesnt deserve a pat on the back,
- 3 through balls which led to a 1v1 - Was more like 2 and literally in the last few moniutes of the game when he managed to try something actually by saving all his energy of 95% of the match to do something when games was lost and bayerns started to switch off
- Some lovely build up play for the 1st goal, and some with Sessengon in the 2nd half - Was Lo Celso actually
- Ran his arse off again - WTF, he did no such thing, lazy little shite was he, watched the ball like a passer by, no effort to get or close a ball, barely even jogged, even a skip and a hotstep would have been faster than moved last night, no desrie, no effort at all
- We had 30% possession, what do you expect him to do with that - If he didnt lose the ball 90% of the time he got it maybe it or just passed to their players would have been atleast 50% possesion for us!!!!!
- According to whoscored, he was the Spurs player with the 3/4 best rating of all our players - Whoscored has no authority on Football, none what so ever, not one iota of credibility of analzing a game, unless you want the stat who actually scored, btw incase you wanted to know, Eriksen didnt score

I hope all the elite clubs turn their noses up at him in the summer for his shocking attitude and he ends up at a team like Napoli.

He was good last night. He put three players in one-on-one with the keeper, and also put Sissoko into the clear only for him to mess up a simple square pass. He also put in a great cross for a free-kick that three players somehow managed not to get on the end of it. If Le Celso played as well as he did last night you'd all be creaming yourselves.

Pat Nevin and a couple of others on 5Live were saying last night, that he was terrible in that, they really like him as a player but he's a shadow of himself and just doesn't seem interested or bothered.
They also said that no big team will be interested in him while he keeps playing in such a half-hearted manner.
That's a view from outside of SC.
