Would be a great signing.

Also be so nice to be able to give kane a rest midweek if we qualify for the group stages and have him more fresh for the PL :woot:
Also no more running Sonny into the dirt trying to cover him. Or having Lucas struggling up top instead of him. Or trying to patch together a team on the fly with a new system. We can actually rest Kane and not have to compromise the style of play and the tactics that are being worked on. Be massive for consistency and to stay competitive on all 4 fronts.

What are work permit rules concerning footballers? He didn't get a work permit last year for wolves, so what wil have changed?

Interesting about Wolves and the work permit bit.

Why didn't they go back for him, and you would assume he gets one this this time.

Could that be why Benficia did the deal as a loan?

They did, but at that point Benfica refused all offers as they didn't need to sell. Now they do.

Loan might have something to do with it. And then by next year if it is to be made permanent he’d likely have the successful season and/or the high transfer fee working in his favor. Think there is some point system thing if I remember right and an easy way to get points is by being in the higher percentile transfer fees, which this one would.

Maybe because it’s a loan?

That would make sense. I don't know the rules but always found it strange that, apart from Watford, not really seen many South Americans come directly to this country.

Never knew that about the transfer fee and work permit correlation, thanks for that. I wonder if that could be part of the reason the Gedson payment is being talked about. Take x off of his fee and add it onto Vinicius to get round the work permit problem?

I was once a very vocal Sissoko supporter but, yesterday especially, he doesn't seem to bring anything to the table anymore. Shame as he's a great guy in the changing room apparently and I think having those types around is good for team building, but I'd like to see him shipped off.

In his defence he was ill only days earlier and has hardly played this season, so is lacking match fitness. Managers seem to like him as he can play various positions and has pace and strength. He also has a lot of influence in the dressing room, as the Amazon documentary alluded to.

Looks good to me. Has a touch or early Berbatov about him where the skill is clearly there for a big man but just needs a bit of polishing.

No. We can have multiple players on loan - the limit mainly applies to players signed domestically, and Bale, Gedson and Vinicius' parent clubs are all foreign clubs.

I'm not sure if the limit on signing more than two players on loan per window applies to all loan signings, but even if it does Gedson signed in January, so we're still fine.
As Gedson is u21, can’t he play without registering?

Looks like he has great strength, an eye for a pass, a powerful finish, and at times even a good burst of pace and the ability to round the keeper. A loan seems like a great deal for us
