The 3mil loan fee is good business for both parties. Seems their manager had made it clear he wasn't going to play him, Benfica wanted to sell but weren't getting offers so now instead they get some money in, get his wages off the books and maybe cash in next year. For us, means more money free up front for Skriniar and any special Daniel's Deadline Dandies.

If this fella is as good as leading the line and holding up play he’ll be ideal for us, even if he is or isn’t prolific for us.

We just need a focal point up top really when Kane needs to be rested or subbed, when you have the talented wide players we have they can then feed off of that.

Would need to get rid 3 players to not have someone missout on the UCL squad. 2 for the Prem.
I’d have to imagine Gazzaniga, Foyth and one of Serge, Sissoko, Lucas or Lamela will be sold by Monday if we also get Skriniar in

no problem doing so, feel free to in the future.

think @rossdapep knows him too. perhaps he can add or change something to the description.
Brigado, João.

To be honest though I haven't seen enough to give a really fair assessment. From what I've seen I think you're pretty spot on. Although I said to my Benfica supporting fellow coach we were interested and he said "great give us the money. he's another Dias" which I took to meaning over inflated value.

However a loan gives him the chance to prove his worth and I'm not expecting him to come and outscore Harry or anything like that. We just need some presence and some one who can component. From what I've seen one of his better strengths is allowing others to play off of him.

I hope we're not trying to force Gazzaniga and he's asked for a move to be No.1 somewhere. He's been a great servant for us.

Ally Gold and Di Marzio are reporting that it's £36m (€40m), the extra €5m is probably in bonuses as you say.

Imagine that figure would be inclusive of whatever loan fee we pay them up front as well? Probably £10m loan fee and we add another 26 if he looks good, or else they take him back. Something along them lines I would think.

Vinicius along with Skrinar would really make it an excellent window. Always been a bit vary of bringing in too many players in one go but the fact the likes of Hojbjerg, Doherty, Hart and Bale already have plenty of EPL experience under their belts is a big plus. Likes of Regulion, Vinicius and Skriniar all look like they've the raw ingredients such as pace and physicality to succeed in the league so would be hopeful of them bedding in.

Portuguese media is reporting €3m loan fee with €42m option. Seems we'll be able to get him very cheaply this season, hopefully allowing us to put the rest of our resources toward Skriniar.

Also, people need to stop freaking out about having one player over the non-HG quota for Europe. Clearly Gazza and Foyth are off, and we will most likely lose one of the remaining players to injury at some point during the season. If we don't, it will just be Gedson who sits out in Europe. No problem at all and fairly normal for a team of our size to have a young non-HG player who doesn't make a squad.

Wow, if true that’s a great deal for us. Surely that can’t be right? Not sure what Benfica really get out of that. Sure if he’s great here they’ll get the big fee but if he’s average they’ve only got £3m out of it and the players stock and confidence have both taken a knock.

if we really have secured José's number one target then I am absolutely delighted. Also glad to have another senior striker on the books. This season's potential is getting better and better.

Well done to all involved.

If the figures are true (3mio loan fee with an option to buy), and Jose wants him, it really is a superb deal

So why aren’t Benfica playing him/why are they getting rid of him?

Their new manager didn't have him in his plans. Not sure why as he was the top scorer last season, but the feeling I get is that he wanted to bring in his own strikers
