Why? People have opinions on players and share it on a messageboard.

No need to apologise for anything. Sometimes people get it right, sometimes they get it wrong.
I think the big thing is more admitting when people get it wrong rather than skulk off or double-down. We all get stuff wrong but when chances haven't been really given or concessions made for new player/bigger club etc etc then the fact some are so steadfastly rooted to their opinion is something to encourage them to own up to.

Loved his commitment when United were getting a foot on the game in the 2nd half. He helped out well and cut out some crosses and made a couple of important blocks.

warms the cockles!

Let’s just stay positive, we have such a young bunch, who we know are going to be good.

Can’t imagine what it must feel like when the crowd sings your name, or alternatively when they groan.

It was a bit wrong, when people could show some patience.

He's a younger player and his numbers were still good in that period.

So yeah, way too much criticism at that point as a younger player in his first season and still putting up good numbers
In my book it its valid to say someone has been poor when in your opinion they've been poor and there is a discussion on a forum. If you don't agree then you don't agree and your entitled to your opinion as well as someone who says 'poor, not good enough'. There is not a wrong there, nor is there possibly a right.
What I think is wrong is being in the crowd and giving any of our players a caning. Nothing wrong if you turn to your mate and say 'I think he's shit!'. But I don't like vocalizing your criticism to the player or doing it to him on social media, out of order.

Some posts were implying he's just not good enough - period. Ie adamant he's just a limited player and wont ever improve.

Sorry but thats bullshit, and is now making some people look stupid - which they dont like.

I was one who have been critical of him and it has been very difficult to see at times where he could Improve.

Was no pace, no able to take a man on, slow to react, often like a spare part in the team.

Doesn't mean abuse should happen, nut I couldn't see anywhere those things could improve.

I Still can't in some areas, but what I have seen are some tactical tweaks that actually play Into his strengths really well, so we've been able to see what he is able to do and do well, and have seen other things Improve all be it slightly, he is actually trying to take a man on, whilst the initial burn of pace isn't quite there, he is able to get burners on, so even seeing that.

I'm over the moon with his performances, but also accepting he isn't the player I was expecting him to be, he isn't a tricky, burn of pace, take on 2/3 players type player that I was expecting based on things here...

He is doing well, really well and I'm absolutely positive every single person is buzzing for him too, and I'm also expecting there are going to be times where he won't make an impact, but he is adding value to the team now, which is great to see.

Thats all fair mate.

Most were just calling it as they see it, which is absoluteky fine.

Just a few saying he was shit, end of kind of thing - which is wrong.

He's not a shit player, far far from it.

If he was shit no tactical tweaks would affect that

Yep that I agree with, the price tag probably hasn't helped with that expectation (even though not his fault).

He is doing g really well at the moment, smile is back, seems to be really well liked behind the scenes too, long may it continue!

Thr main thing I've been impressed with is his defensive work, attacking wise hasn't ever been in doubt, he pops up with goals/assists like last season, but he is really putting it in defensively, maybe a little more aggression.

His defensive work has improved considerably and he seems to have this ability to arrive just at the right time to score. Rather like Dele. It is up to him now, with the help of the Coaches, to continue improving to make himself undroppable.

I think it works both ways though. Some people said they didn't think he was good enough and had a limited skillset for what he cost, and generally they were fair views to hold based on what we'd seen. To say they were all wrong after he's done quite well for 4 games is almost just as reactionary. He's shown us what his strengths are (and we saw this at times last season too) but he still seems timid and frustrating on the ball which will be an issue against most opponents. Maybe a super confident Brennan will be more effective in these situations but at the moment we don't know.

Also there seems a lot of people intent on 'calling out' his doubters. That seems a bit ironic given what Johnson himself went through. We're just football fans with views on our footballers. There's no need for this point-scoring crap. Not necessarily aimed at you but the last few pages.

I drew a comparison of him to Son at the same age. And if he can be 75% as good as Son by the time he is 27, that would be marvelous.

But, truth is, Ange needs better wingers who are either an improvement over Sonny and Johnson, or just as good with upside potential. Odbert may be one. But we won’t see how good he could be for another one or two seasons.

This is why we really needed a more experienced, talented winger this summer. Someone close to Sonny in terms of skill. Hence, why Neto would’ve been excellent.

A part of me desperately wants to believe that Brennan’s hot streak and his overall gameplay will remain consistently high all season. But it won’t. Which why we will have games when we will stink it up from an attacking perspective. Because Sonny is seemingly getting worse each season. He’s still very good. But no longer great. Brennan right now is good. But I expect he will yaw in and out of good vs average all season.

So chilled in front of goal. He was smiling against Utd, this time he looked like he was down the park with mates as he placed it in the far corner. Great stuff

He is in a fabulous spell of form now and it's great to see. He has all the attributes to be a top player.

The goal was excellent, but I was even more impressed with the first time shot that hit the bar. It’s proving what a lot of us thought, when he started to play on instinct he has all the talent needed to be a top player. Truly nothing better than watching someone develop into a great player in front of your eyes
