Honestly don't understand the abuse. If it's someone like an Ndombele who isn't trying then I totally understand, but Johnson seems like a good guy and always gives it his all.

Whatever any of us think about his ability, he's a Tottenham player and we should be pushing him on. Well taken goal, with potential to be one of the most important of the season. Hopefully he pushes on from this.
I really think the abuse is embedded in so many Spurs fans.
My last attended Spurs game was the final game at WHL. Gave up my Season ticket after 16 years.
My seat was in the South Upper and I always remember a cup game against Crystal Palace where these two guys were giving Dele dogs abuse. I mean this was when he was very good.
Before then Some Spurs fans have abused loads of players. Zokora, Ghali, Mido, Stambouli, Sissoko, to name a few.
Sorry I just don’t get it. If you can’t get behind the team at the ground stay at home and go to the match thread and moan all you like.

Even Terry Venables was targeted by a section of the home crowd way back then.

I regularly read comments aimed at our players such as ‘bottled it’, ‘lack of effort’ ‘no composure’ etc.

Well Brennan showed all of the above in his finish last night and some serious courage after the dogs abuse he’s had this week, from so called fans! Can you begin to imagine what he’d have had to face if he’d missed that!

I’m delighted for the lad and long may it continue. Let’s just hope he feels able to celebrate as he should.

So sad that he feels that ground down by everything he didn’t celebrate a bloody good goal! I hope for him it’s a change in his luck and confidence

Never understod fans who have a go at our own players but its been going on for years, be a good idea if all players deleted their social media accounts not just Johnson.
Time to revive my favourite Bill Nicholson quote about John Pratt.

Bill Nicholson quote

I had been getting it in the neck a bit from some of the sections of the crowd at Spurs but Bill expected his players to be men, and he said that the crowd paid our wages and were entitled to have their opinions. So one day, before I was due to play my first game at Old Trafford, I asked him what I could expect. He replied that it would just be like playing at Spurs, except that up there 55,000 people would hate me, whereas at Spurs it was only 45,000!

Does he have a song? I can’t recall hearing one or people talking about his name being sung?
You are my BJ, my only BJ, you make me happy when skies are gray
You'll never know dear, how much I love you, please dont take my BJ away

His face when he scored broke my heart. That wasn't joy. That was hurt. The problem is that we can call out people that dig him out and abuse him on social media but they represent all of us by affiliation. I HATE that.

What would you do?

From my perspective when I see Brennan, Werner and even Sonny they all look tailor made for a team that likes to counter attack and play on the transition.
could not agree more. we look absolutely toothless when we try to play tiki-taka like City. but when the game gets stretched is where we start making big chances.

Hopefully this gives him confidence to really kick on in all facets of his game and to show more belief in his play. Has all the tools to become a star here, he just has to take more risks. Not everything will come off, but it would be such a boost to see him play with assertiveness and drive. Regardless, no one should be abused, and I’m glad he shut up some haters. Hopefully he shuts up a lot more because it would mean he’s become a real force on the pitch, which we badly need.

The issue is, he should be the perfect player for us. Great pace, good stats, young, decent cross, etc. In practice, he's so frustrating and looks scared to take anyone on. If he just ran at the other team, I think 99% of the criticism would disappear, even if nothing else changed. I don't know if he's on instructions to not go out wide and take people on, but that doesn't seem to stop Deki when he's out wide.

I really hope he comes good and he definitely doesn't deserve the abuse and trolling.

But he doesn't seem to have the ability to take players on when a defence is set. I think that's the reason he looks scared to do it, is because he knows it's not in his locker. If he was running into the wide open spaces behind a high line it would be a different story, but taking on one or two defenders set in their shape from an often standing start... He doesn't have the technical ability to do it. Or certainly hasn't showed it so far in his career.

Or we adjust slightly and try and play to the strengths of the players we do have.
I watched a bit of forest during his last season and some of his best performances were playing through the middle, I actually
think he is a better option than Son to deputise for solanke or dare I say it rotate with him if we’ve got an adequate supply from wide.

The problem in modern times is that players who were targeted for abuse at the ground, at least only endured it for 90 mins, these days it’s constant with online abuse. For the individual they don’t even get the positive/negative like they might get during a game as the online stuff is nearly 100% negative, anyone who takes the time to seek out someone’s social media account and abuse a player is a lowlife of the highest order
