Said in the game thread, I’ve never understood the moaning about buying a backup LCB. We have an excellent one. He was brilliant today. Even last season when we got 1 point from 5 with the whole back 4 out I thought he was good. Just a brilliant brilliant guy to have in your squad

I think the question has always been around whether we need a left back or a left centre back. I think it's just become clear that Davies is a centre back now and we just need a left back. I'd try keep Davies and Son for a couple more years to work with the young centre backs and attackers coming through.

I agree with you but people have definitely talked about LCB specifically. We don’t need one. Ben is a brilliant reserve to have, as he has been for nearly a decade

Surely we’ll be extending him?

Even if we do get another CB, he can be 5th choice and 3rd choice LB. He would probably be happy with that too. He’s one of us!

Awesome. But let's remember we're normally dominating possession and waiting for a long ball over the top. Which doesn't suit his game. No debate to keep him tho. Owned them this evening. 👍

I can’t see him leaving now, he is simply too useful to have, and I doubt game time bothers him that much. But yeah I agree and I think I said it a few days ago, he gets so much shit off supporters who don’t actually watch a full game and I can barely recall a game where he done that much wrong, I can bet you my house, Alex Ferguson would have signed him, he simply has every trait you want from a player.

Agreed.

He’s long been one of my favourite players. He is calm, reads the game well, has great positioning, encourages others (it’s not a surprise that Ragusin played better with Davies to help and encourage him) and he’s good on the ball.

If only he was just a little bit bigger and faster he’d be an absolute top player.

We’re lucky to have him.

Stick him in the Welsh rugby side. Can't be any worse.
He was a promising fly half apparently. Played more rugby than football as a kid.

Actually Ben Davies is a good example of one of the many problems with Welsh rugby, the appetite for rugby in wales isn’t what it was in decades gone. Losing a lot of talent to football. As long as they all sign for spurs it’s not to bad I guess.

I think it's come to the stage that if vdv is injured Davies should replace him over dragu. That left foot is so important to how we pass out from the back

I’ve never understood some of the flack Davies has gotten during his time with us. He’s an exceptional player.
He’s rarely in the team long enough to build loads of consistency, yet despite this, he always slots in beautifully and turns in an excellent performance. Rarely puts a foot wrong. Very consistent.

Class.

Safe pair of hands when VDV is out. Agree he probably should be the go to rather than Dragusin based on the balance he brings with his left foot. Keep Dragusin for the RCB start/cover role. Worth noting that with Vuskovic coming next summer, another season or so of Davies to help while he acclimatises is probably the right option. All of which leads me to agree with one of the posts above, a new LB should be a January priority, not CB

I’m sure I saw somewhere he’s already started his coaching badges. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets one more contract then moves straight into coaching at Spurs rather than move to another club, unless he fancies returning to his roots at Swansea first.

He’s also done two Open University degrees including a Master’s in a business related subject and has said that he’s undecided, whether after he’s stopped playing, he should go into the coaching or business side of football.
