If he gets regular game time in La Liga it’d be absolutely massive. That’d get heads turning and hopefully set him up nicely for a PL loan next season which would be the ideal finishing school.

I’ve used Saliba as an example before but it’s worth another reminder that he didn’t break into the Arsenal team until he was 21 and had racked up over 100 appearances in Ligue 1 across 3 different loan spells. He was always an elite talent but he was nowhere near first team ready at Ashley’s age (he’s only just turned 19).

If we accept that he’ll probably benefit more from going out loan for another 2-3 seasons, it’s likely that we’ll have a clear opening in the first team by then and meanwhile he’ll have built his experience and value to the point where he’d be equivalent to a £50m signing.

Yeah that's the caveat. He doesn't need a season of doing sod all like Veliz.
That's where the club really need to do their homework in regards to players going out on loan.

Find out if the manager of the other club really wants him or if it's just a chairman wanting a well regarded young player from an EPL club because they think they will be good.

Pretty sure that's what happened with Veliz, and he didn't end up playing because of a power struggle between the Sevilla manager and owner.

Classic example of that was Ryan Mason’s loan at L’Orient where the manager flat out refused to play him just to make a point.

From a Stoke forum. This will probably be announced today:

“He's 100% signed.

Just seen him having his pictures taken outside Clayton Wood (my lad is in the academy).”

Anyone know how Stoke plays these days? Last time I checked in they were all eating rocks and learning how to communicate via grunts.

Ash Phillips subbed off after 75 min with Stoke leading 0-5 at Boro in the League Cup. Looked to be a normal substitution to give another player a debut and not an injury to Ash

Live on skysports+ . As are the other 16 matches. Orient and Oxford playing which could mean Donley and Scarlett.

Scarlett had his first start and got rinsed on the Oxford United forum for being anonymous and playing half arsed. Seems like he has issues when he goes out on loan.

Sorry for off topic, but he doesn't have his own Loanwatch page.
