Another good game. I think Archie is in danger of actually being underrated a bit because we haven't yet been able to see him play in his proper position.

As has been said, this season will reap enormous benefits for Gray in the future - mentally, technically and tactically. The only real flaw to his game is a distinct lack of pace, but his big old brain should make up for that.

Archie has done a job at CB but there's no doubt we'd have been better off and will be better off when he no longer plays there, I genuinely never want to see him play there ever again because that would mean we've got actual CB's who are able to play.
Hopefully by Wednesday we'll have Ben Davies back and maybe some minutes for Romero and Van de Ven and then we might start to see him where we want him playing.

Isn’t this basically the trajectory Frenkie De Jong took? I remember when we were originally linked he was playing at CB but with the understanding that he would become a CM. There was a decent discussion about his position in the transfers forum.

de Jong was 20 years old at the start of the 2017-18 season, playing quite often as a centre-back for Ajax, while Gray is currently 18. de Jong also played for a dominant team in a weaker league than the Premier League. Ajax finished in 2nd place that season.

Although the scenarios are similar, Gray faces much stronger opposition

Sure, but my point was that he was a promising young midfielder who played for a while at CB and then established himself in midfield. I imagine the spell at CB helped De Jong with his defensive game and made him more well rounded, so hope it does the same for Gray.
