He just gets football. Understands the game and is crisp in every action. Mature far beyond his age. He’s been needed big time in difficult circumstances and has more than stood up. He’s someone we’ll be relying on for the next decade, and that’s very good news.

Hope he’ll bring his brother along as well, wouldn’t mind having that mature Gray-head further up the pitch as well 🤩

You would really start this pairing against Liverpool??

Sure. We're not blessed with a lot of options and both those players have the speed and athleticism to help us deal with Liverpool.

Also, we know that Ange isn't afraid to throw a new CB's into a game without much prep - see VDV's first game when he signed for us.

I know most everyone still thinks he’s eventually a midfielder.

I wonder if he actually ends up being a better version John Stones. He could be a standout CB for the next 15 years as he continues to fill out physically.

perhaps but he has everything ability wise, clearly not the experience yet but just imagine him being a great number 6, which is the rarest type of player. Why not aim to be another Rodri. If Gray becomes an elite number 6 he will be one among very few in the world. Even Declan Rice is not that, he is more a box to box as his passing isn’t good enough to be a Rodri, Gray is already a smoother passer than Rice at just 18.

Archie reminds me of Steve Perryman with his versatility and leadership by example. A future captain in the making who will hopefully lift silverware with us just like Stevie P.

You wouldn't!?
Well you would have to weigh up VdV's fitness and the lack of understanding between him and Danso.

I don't think we're are going to have much need for their pace as I feel we will be defending deep for long periods.

We are ahead in the tie so they can both come on from the bench if we end up needing to chase a goal.

Both? So in your mind it's Davies and Gray starting? Fair enough. I get the logic tbh but definitely prefer Danso and VDV as I'm also hopeful Gray could play with Bentancur in DM to provide that shield.

Our player of the season so far. What he’s been asked to do and how he’s coped with that is just so impressive.

He also behaves like a leader out there. Big future ahead for him!

I just wonder how we managed to sign him, he is so good.
Was it the Ange factor?

He’s unbelievable - to be doing what he’s been doing at 18 in his first season at this level is simply not normal. Didn’t think we’d be able to get him when we were first linked last Jan, and say what we all will in the transfer strategy but we’ll continue to be grateful he’s here.

He'll probably somehow not win YPOTY, and it will be a travesty considering what he's doing and his age.
