Yet you’ve named all cbs? Fullbacks need speed, particular in this day and age an especially in our system.
True, speed a huge factor, id rather have smart players than Quick. U sau I mention only cbs. Il day hellow to Modric, Carric, Scoles, Zidane, Beckham, want me to go further back? Hoddle, Gaza, I could go on and on., even look at the traditional to quality Brazil players, kaka was excetionly slow, Rivalso the same. I don’t see speed as the be all and end all. People even talk about Ginoola as being a speed meehanct, he was really not. A turn of pace yes, I doubt the beautiful man pushed himself the limit. Tarore, probably the quickest we have seen not many outcomes.

In our system is the crucial bit. I think long term Gray is a defensive midfielder, and I think he'll be a very, very good one.

Speed is not the be all and end all, certainly not, football intellogence is the key. I could rhythm off multiple players who had no real pace but they still done the job. Roy Keane, Vidic, Ferdinand, hell Mabbut, Terry, read the game, it’s not all about speed. Speed is what u need when u fuck up. Speed isn’t the art of defending. Hell Ramos Pepe, none of these guys were speed players.

il go even closer to home. Toby and verts had no real speed. Read the game see the danger u don’t need speed as a Cb, benificial maybe if u make a fuck up.
King while a very pacy player really didn’t rely on it to much. I’d say most would say his reading of the game was his strong point.

Actually will say before sleeping, Woodgste was slow as dick, but was top drawer as a defender.

How drunk were you when you typed this? It might be the worst spelling I’ve seen on an SC post, and that’s saying something. 😀

agree with your general point though. I’d take Darren Anderton over Tony Daly as my 90s England right wing!

Kaka was absolutely rapid. I don’t have a clue how he’s managed to end up on a list of slow players. The guy was fucking lightning fast.

He got a knock from a tackle and was limping badly from that moment on. Hopefully nothing serious.
Yeah, he looked to be in a lot of pain but tried to carry on. I actually thought we were a bit slow to sub him as he was struggling to even walk on it.
