Lots of positives from todays performance. Backed himself teams will stop pressing before long which will ease the pressure on the defence. He was constantly talking and barking orders, and all looking controlled and constructive as opposed to when vicario starts screaming at the defence. Couple of times the ball behind the fall back was on and johnson and Son werent alive to it. Johnson didn't even move for one. In time they will instinctively make those runs. Another thing i noticed being at the game a couple of times we went long Ange was applauding him. So maybe the reluctance to go long is an ability issue as opposed to not wanting to go long

Kind of blown away by him and how he looked like he’s been in this side for years, not 3 days. Just seems like a special player, and it totally transformed and negated Liverpools press from the front. He has every single pass in his locker and that’s a nightmare for teams to try and account for. His shot stopping and catching was on point when it needed to be.

Lange deserves credit. I know people have said Villa fans think he left something to be desired, but if he had a part (which I’m assuming he did) in Kinsky, Bergvall and Gray, the early returns are pretty remarkable. Also, I find it incredibly annoying that I don’t like that I don’t know how much he is to be credited with each signing, I want to give him his full praise and not feel like I need to add some caveat. Is Yang his to own, too? How about Odobert? It’s weird to me, not sure if anyone feels the same.

Of course now we have the Best Keeper In the World™, it'll be trickier inviting a press to play through before long.

He is our Alisson.

No exaggeration.

He is exactly what you need in this squad - in terms of distribution. I still don't know how good of a shot-stopper he is - but, he is good enough, and the confidence the defenders will have with him behind them will raise everyone's levels.
Maybe.

It's been one game though so I'll give it a little while before I'm as confident as you. Great start though for sure.

Yeah he has a bit more of a presence too I feel.

But it's the two footed ability that makes me think this could be a game changer.

Even Vicario can look a bit uncomfortable at times when forced on his weaker side. Not the most agile around the ball either.

Having a GK who is difficult to press means Romero and VdV become freed up and also know they can trust the man behind them with different types of passes.
Demonstrated it brilliantly tonight, best praise I can give him is that everything looked solid and assured at the back which given his age and he’s only been here since Sunday was amazing.
Have to eat my hat on this one, I thought Ange would be mad to chuck him in but fair dinkum!

Some players just have an aura about them.

Agreed, felt like we witnessed something special today.

You could even sense it amongst the panel in the studio after.

Fingers crossed we have a real superstar on our hands!
