That's the thing Vic won't hang around as the back up and rightly so. As good a keeper as I think he is, I've always questioned whether he fits how Ange wants to play. This kid might just be the difference that makes Anges philosophy actually click.
He is our Alisson.

No exaggeration.

He is exactly what you need in this squad - in terms of distribution. I still don't know how good of a shot-stopper he is - but, he is good enough, and the confidence the defenders will have with him behind them will raise everyone's levels.

He had two huge saves, the Nunez one was definitely not easy, neither was the one he came out and blocked.
I thought it watching his highlights from Slavia but there's a bit of the Smeichels about the way he spreads himself.

💯 one of the best debuts/signings we’ve made for a long long time!

Considering Age, Value, Fit for style of play, he’s an outstanding signing.

Easily MOTM tonight, completely transformed how we played.
100% on this. his calmness on the ball spread to the players around him. Plus his long passing ability reminds me of Ederson. Yeah i know its early days, but can see this kid being our no 1 before too long.

He's so much more comfortable with his feet.
You see, I have full confidence when Vicario gets the ball at his feet with a short pass available, even under pressure. Vicario's biggest problem is he doesn't have a great passing range. Playing out is ingrained in him which is great but if the short pass isn't on or the opponent man marks high up the pitch, he can't find the spare man or the long ball with accuracy.

Kinksy has that passing range and some, and it completely demoralized Liverpool's press and made it so much more comfortable for our defence since they are under less pressure. If he is anywhere as close to a brilliant shot-stopper as Vicario, then Vic's starting role will be gone sooner or later.

As a goalkeeper myself, it's clear Kinksy has had a more rounded foundational development than Vic. No shade on Vic though, he came through a smaller football academy and had to work his bollocks off to get where he is. It's a great problem for Ange to have though, and both keepers look like positive influences who are confident and super competitive. We get to benefit from that.

One game and all that, but he looks class at 21. It wasn't just a good debut it was outstanding, that save from Nunez was spectacular (he was going the other way). But with his feet he's probably the best I've seen. (I have a few more superlatives that I'll save for his second game).

My favourite part was just a normal piece of goalkeeping, where he shouts and Dragusin leaves it and he claims it. Not seen that sort of defending for a while.

He absolutely commands his area, be it coming for the ball or with it at his feet. He's like a mix of old skool and new generation in one.

Again, just one game but it's difficult to think he'll start sticking to his line or anything from hereon out.

Exceptional debut. You could tell from his first touch that he is a confident lad and it didn’t waiver for the 197 minutes we ended up playing. Very very promising!

🎙️| Ange Postecoglou on Antonin Kinsky’s debut:

“Brilliant. Fantastic. I got the sense when I spoke to him before we signed him that he had a bit about him in terms of assuredness that probably belied his years. I threw him a mammoth task today to play against the best team arguably in the world at the moment, in a big game, a semi-final. He just handled it awfully well. Credit to Johan and his team, they were really big on him as a footballer who's going to fit our style and worked really hard to make it happen now. And you can see why. He's an outstanding footballer.”

If he continues at this level he is our number 1 hopefully for the next decade at least.

Kid is UNREAL.

He did a no look pass and found his man perfectly. This is one of the best debuts since Dean Marney.

Vicario is a quality keeper with an enormous and specific weakness. Didn't see many set pieces tonight, but if Kinsky solves that vulnerability and plays at this level then there's no question he becomes #1. We'd make a tidy profit on Vic if it comes to that too.

Brilliant debut. Really helped us have some kind of calmness and control to have such a confident passer in goal.
