Had to look - he was playing against a team from the 6th tier of Spanish football. Not a knock! Strikers are there to score goals, and I'm happy he got his hattrick.

Unlike Sevilla they have at least given him some decent playing time early in the season, and then maybe not impressed enough lately.

Just how did we mess up his development? More likely he never was good enough, top talent doesn't detoriate by spending half a season with us and half a season on Sevilla.

Kid is still 21. At a similar age Gyokeres was scoring 0 in 11 on loan at Swansea. Solanke 1 in 21 for Liverpool.

Not saying he will burst into a top player mid twenties like they did but perhaps a bit of patience is in order.
