We have reached agreement with Olympique de Marseille for the loan of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for the 2024/25 season, with an obligation that would see the move become permanent.

The Denmark midfielder joined us from Southampton in August, 2020, and in his four seasons here featured in 143 of our 152 Premier League matches, reaching 184 appearances for us in all competitions.

Will we stick to our current four central midfield players or will we add? Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr and Gray, currently with Skippy supporting them.

How does a loan help us with the financial fair play rules?

I thought this was a nailed on sale with a number of clubs interested not another loan. The trouble is foreign clubs use the loan system to get in a player for a season and then send them back with no intention of buying as they're all broke.

As I understand - this is a loan with an obligation - which is effectively a sale, but will be reported in the next accounting period.

I believe they have to buy him after the initial loan, no sending back

How does the loan with obligation work when he only has a year left on his contract?

The initial fee being bandied about was £10m which I was really disappointed with so I'm very happy to see we agreed a deal for £17m

He's effectively being sold now but Marseille want it to count for their next accounting period.
A bit like the Eric Dier deal where he was loaned in his last year and then we got a £5m fee (I think) when they made it permanent.
