He's definitely not a "next level" signing, but at least it's a move that really makes sense, in that it's a position we really need to fill, he's shown he can do a good job in the Prem and won't cost the earth. He's far from my first choice, but I definitely wouldn't complain and think he'll improve us. I see him as a Wanyama level signing. Very decent, but not elite.

Only interesting bits different from Hytner's article:

Tottenham want to include Kyle Walker-Peters in a deal to buy Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton.

The Saints, however, are yet to decide if they want to sign the young right-back on a permanent deal, as they continue to assess his performances while on loan for the rest of the season.

.....

Another Premier League club has, however, met the valuation, which is reportedly set at £35m, but it is understood the 24-year-old would prefer to join Jose Mourinho's Spurs squad.

...

Edit: The 2nd quote is in regard to Højbjerg.

The 'other' club is probably Man City after their FFP escape and it's the equivalent of me fancying a packet of crisps.

I find it hard to believe that a club is willing to pay £35m for him with the circumstances

Some info on his time under Pep.

Also found it funny reading the comments, you can automatically tell when somebody plays Fifa or Football Manager when names like Sangare and Florentino Luis come out .

Someone forgot to tell tell Lyall that the transfer market underwent a massive deflation overnight.

There is next to no chance someone offered £35m for Hojbjerg and even less of a chance that Saints will get that for him nor is there a chance they believe they will.

Already have Rodri and Fernandinho. Absolutely no chance he’d ‘prefer to chose us’ over them. Be someone like Everton

I mean you literally started your sentence with the exact reason why he would prefer us over them.

It’s been reported the last few months by multiple media outlets he has a price tag of £35 mil. I’d assume it’s Southampton’s end pushing that number out but not a hope they get more than half of that for him.

Talksport journo saying Everton have bid £25m, no idea on his reliability

I believe he's quite reliable for Southampton news.

Never wanted him anyway

I think the reality is, Southampton are in the same boat as we were with Eriksen last season (fucking danes:cautious:) which is no matter how much the club want a deal to happen, they player is in the driving seat and regardless of whether certain clubs will pay the fee they want, if he doesn't want to go then Southampton will have little option but accept a deal with the club he does want to go to. Because you can't leave money on the table for a player who will be available to leave on a free in a years time who may have checked out mentally.

Everton probably do want him and are offering more than us right now but the main things are that he wants to come to us and we have someone Southampton might want in return. For these reasons I am hopeful the transfer happens and we see:
Hojbjerg
Lo Celso Ndombele

We wont pay 25m because we think KWP is worth 15m...first offer is probably 10m + KWP and they will want closer to 20m + KWP

Kwp has 3+ long contract with us ... Hojberg has only one year left in his contract ... I think Southampton should give us money plus hojberg for KWP

KWP is also home grown. It's not going to be a straight swap, but I personally think KWP and somewhere around 10m for PEH is fair.
