We have a huge issue with underperforming players that we can't sell. The story from the OP suggests he wants to leave instead of staying here an extra year collecting his £200k a week.

I’ve already said I respect Perisic for the career he’s had. Sadly these are hard times for Spurs and unfortunately few people at the club come out with much credit. So you respect an underperforming player who tried his hardest and didn't make the grade after 6 seasons here. But you don't respect an ageing player who tried his hardest and didn't make the grade after 1 season?

I guess you can compartmentalise and respect an individual as a human, I think this issue is that many of our players do not warrant respect for their contribution as footballers. That’s not to say that the treatment Sanchez received was acceptable, it clearly wasn’t and sends out the wrong message to a prospective manger or players that many be looking at joining us.

How has Sanchez shown character or commitment? Really don't see how you can say he's done anything that Perisic hasn't. Both had a handful of good games but mostly below par, and Perisic has the excuse of arriving in the fastest league in the world in his mid 30s and we've had to play him almost every game.

But regardless of that respect shouldn't have to be earned. It should be the default position. All that really entails is not treating people like shit and not booing them for merely not being good enough. That's the fault of the club for not having better players.

Sess is just as bad and never available. We let Reggie go for reasons only Conte could tell you. We put all our eggs in the Perisic basket. That's on the club.

He is joint first with trippier for defenders with assists in the EPL. He has had a good season but i think thats because the system suited him which wont/shouldnt be the case next season. This will be the right move for everyone.

At the time and in theory it seemed like a solid idea. An experienced international, playing well for Inter and who has worked with Conte in that position. Could cover bothe WB and WF if needed. Not overly expensive, could come straight in and Sess could learn from him.

Obviously he hasn't worked out like that, but this isn't a player we're gong to end up stuck with, so it was a gamble worth taking.

I agree that we should upgrade at LB / LWB in the summer. However, I find it strange that so many fans feel selling our player with the most assists (and third most goals & assists combined, behind only Kane & Son) this season is such a high priority...more so than numerous other players who have underperformed / shown shortcomings without contributing anywhere as much in the final third. His goal / assist stats aren't too far off Trent Alexander-Arnold's output when people were valuing him at £100m+ (I wasn't one of those people btw).
People also view Hojbjerg as a high prioty to sell, yet he has our 4th most goals & assists. Perhaps other players need to start pulling their weight and upping their output before we can justify selling Perisic & Hojberg...

Yes, most of Perisic's assists have resulted from set-pieces, not open play, but fans were crying out for us to sign a set-piece specialist before he signed. I'm convinced that some of the same fans currently wanting Perisic gone were previously calling for us to sign Ward-Prowse on the basis that he's good at set pieces, even though they thought he was worse / no better than our existing CMs in open play. Also, he has been creating more chances from open play since Conte left (almost certainly due to Son's positional change, which has also resulted in Son scoring more).

Personally, I wouldn't have an issue with him sticking around next season as a LWB/LW option (not as a LB!), but I'd want him to be utilised only in certain situations. For example, when our game-plan is to put lots of crosses into the box against a team that sits deep, but not when we're intending to play on the counter. He's not the future of the team, so I wouldn't be gutted if he leaves in the summer, but I also don't see him as a priority to sell (especially as it wouldn't bring in much money to reinvest).

I think we should be all over giving Udogie a run at making the position his own, with Perisic / Sessegnon (if playing WBs) or Davies (if playing back four) as back-up.
