It’s always hilarious to come into the Neto thread seeing a few new pages knowing full well there’s at least 5 people worrying about his injury record

I think signing him would be a huge gamble, you can dress it up as much as you want but the fact he’s only played the equivalent of 32 games over the last 3 seasons does not look good. Scoring only 3 goals and 10 assists.

If we do sign him obviously I’ll get behind him and hope for the best.
It's more about providing context. Listing the number of games a player has missed is not evidence of systemic injury problems. Similar to most clubs, we have world class medical insight, which is taken in account when players are signed, via their medical.

No part of signing him is a gamble, in terms of fitness. If he has increased injury risk, or evidence of long-term impact from injuries, that will show up in a medical.

In 3 seasons only 30 odd games played & scoring only 3 goals is worrying in my opinion.

Obviously we have/will do our checks but looking at that record he’s either injury prone or one of the unluckiest players around.

We definitely need a alternative to Johnson who doesn’t look good enough atm & I hope Neto works out if he comes but like I said before record isn’t the best.

Not trying to dress anything up. Instead trying to provide balance and some context as to how an elite sports club considers an athlete and their corresponding injury history when making a decision on them. Matches missed is more a worry to coaches concerned a player may have missed key periods of development (often more an issue for the younger lads) and the psychological impact following a long period out.

This is before we run scans and performance testing to a very detailed level to establish if there is an active risk for the player, and subsequently the club with the amount of money involved nowadays. If there are any concerns we won't pass the player.

Hopefully this provides a little more context in addition to the original write up too. 🙏

I appreciate your information & wasn’t putting your post down, but I just can’t look over the fact how little he’s played. Like I said in my next post he must be extremely unlucky if he’s not “injury prone”

I will trust our medical team if we do go for him and hope it pays off. 👍

Groundhog day in so many threads on here currently, why do people bother having the same conversation over and over again?!

Why not just wait until we have a purposeful update from an ITK/well trusted source?! WLB said today we were still trying so there's not really anything further to discuss that hasn't already been mentioned.

Solanke is a prime example today, that's something to currently discuss because it's come out of nowhere after silence for a long period of time re potential interest in him. But Neto and Eze, we don't know where we currently sit with both deals so maybe just relax and see what happens 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m frustrated as the squad is a million miles off being seriously competitive but trying to be positive at least. Having news that it’s being worked on is better than being told it’s dead or he’s off elsewhere.

Things gathering pace nicely. But! Let’s not get too carried away yet, as anything could happen.

Miles off being competitive? We finished 2 points off the CL last season. It was our first year in a completely new system, we were unlucky as hell with injuries, and we’ve got 3 players over 28 in our first team squad and about 15 24 and under.

It’s also utterly ridiculous to pretend that there will be no further additions to the squad - we know there will be.

So you can say business should be done earlier, or that we will still have some gaps to fill after this summer, that’s fine. But this relentless desire to be as miserable as possible and make claims like we are miles off being competitive are just boring to listen to at this point.

For all those whining about my post, please let me know which bit you disagree with over in the player thread.. As this is ITK discussion. You disagree on his injury record?? You don't think it's a big risk?? Curious. Feel free to tag me.
Mate, nobody is "whining" about your post, they're just disagreeing with it.

And if you really want to know why, maybe read through this thread and if you still haven't figured it out by then, well, nobody's going to be able to add anything new.

I will say as well mate that I think you kind of answered your own question in your original post. He's going to be used entirely differently here than how he's been used at Wolves.

No longer will he have to make pitch long sprints breaking on the counter every few minutes.
