Must be quite difficult to complete a deal given the time differences: when it’s 12-00 in London where Lange is, 20-00 in Korea where Ange, Skipp and Solomon (reflecting the info that a player swap will be involved) are, and 7-00 in Maryland where Neto is.

I can’t see anything happening until next week when everyone is in the same time zone.

Funny.
But suppose Skipp wants to speak with Gary O’Neil before negotiations can move forward, at 19-00 in Seoul it’s 6-00 Am in Maryland.

I admire those in these transfer forums that aren’t feeling discouraged yet by our lack of movement on first 11 attacking players. I’m absolutely delighted with the likes of Gray and Bergvall but I said we’d not achieve anything with the front line we have before last season and I don’t think we’ll do anything significant this season either. 1 or 2 top attacking players would be the difference between top 6 and genuinely have a chance at challenging for the title though, it would make that much of a difference. Our back 5 and midfield options are extremely good, we really just need to be aggressive in the market now and get our top attacking targets in ASAP so Ange can work with them as much as possible before the season starts.
Why spend your time worrying now when things may still happen?

The time for judgement is the day after the window closes.
Agreed. There was logic to the frustration of not having people in for pre-season when were actually close under Poch. We are miles off now. Far better to try and get the right people in than the first.

Don’t think it’s anywhere near as black and white as this. Pre-season is massively important in setting your body up and building the foundations for you to physically get through a long hard season. You can build great momentum and confidence from having a good pre-season in circumstances where the stakes aren’t high. Giving Neto as much time as possible to build relationships and an understanding on and off the pitch with his teammates and learning what Ange wants from him could make the difference in what is going to be an insanely competitive season at the top end of the table this year. I get the players have been on holiday but now is the time to start accelerating these deals to give us the best possible chance of a strong start with a very tough opening 10 games.

I don't have the energy to get upset about it. We won't change the way we do things. Just accept it and try and enjoy some of the football. Hope for a good cup run

It doesn’t bother me because the main way to win things is through the manager and I believe Ange can win us things even with the attackers we have now.

Plenty of lesser teams with weaker attacks have won things over the years, and it’s not even like attack was our main issue last year.

We were miles off winning anything last year, think the optimism is more than a little blind in some quarters- as things stand, of course

Remember the opening 10 games this season? That was with VdV joining after the tour and everyone crying out for signings at this stage

Add the fact that it from the chat the he was plan b (todibo?) and that Vicario was an unknown, maybe we should trust Ange and he knows what he is doing?

Well yeah I know this is the doom and gloom side of the site, if we’re not signing people we’re getting relegated.
