Well I'm glad we have Solomon, otherwise I would be so pissed off for wasting a whole summer chasing Neto!

The problem with Mendes is he will swear on his nans grave one thing, whilst working all sorts of blood magic behind your back. He will also have his next pawn lined up for the selling club, and another pawn lined up to replace him.

I defend agents all the time on here because it's their job to get the best deals for their players, but this guy is only interested in his own gain and always has been. I know a couple of prominent agents and they genuinely loathe him and how he operates.
Imagine having Littlefinger as your agent

People spent two months shutting down anyone who dared mention his injury record. Now he's going to Chelsea he's injury prone and we shouldn't sign him. Interesting.

Every player has the potential for injury but players in his mould tend to be more vulnerable. It's always a risk but I suspect the way we would have wanted him to play would have always had him working at his maximum and therefore perhaps more prone to spend time watching rather than playing.

It was probably worth a punt at a certain cost but I guess not the same as Chelsea.

Does Gruda have the explosive acceleration and 2 way ability to develop going on the outside enough?

No, he hasnt got raw pace but does have good acceleration of standing start.More than anything, he is one of the most intelligent players for his age- I put his name in the Spurs scouting thread like mid last season. IMO, he would be a great signing. But I doubt we would be looking at him

We act all high and mighty but honestly take off your Spurs tinted glasses for a second.

Yes, what Chelsea are doing is abhorrent but until the authorities do something about it, they will continue to act this way.

We can all criticise Neto for going there but let’s be honest, he’s going to be on more money and challenge for major honours. It’s not like he’s gone to Saudi.

We can say we want players that want to play for Spurs, personally I want players who want to win and unfortunately you need to pay a premium for those players.

Oh there's definitely no doubting his acceleration and particularly his two way dribbling ability, he skins his man consistently down the side line.

The issue currently is that his tendency is to then try and drive inwards to goal rather than drive to the endline for a cut-back. This is where the coaches would have to develop him and change his tendencies.

As I've said, it's a shame that to my mind there's no other ready made solution outside of Neto, but we're just going to have to take a chance on developing someone now.

To me, Bakayoko/Gruda/Raphinha would all be very strong options to develop.

Kubo/Zhegrova then would be more ready-made options for what Ange want's but personally I don't think they're of the standard we need, so the best option is to develop one of the other players.

Looking forward to the Chelsea game when Romero goes in waste high on Neto, misses, and takes out Mendes in the directors box.

Makes Cantona's kung fu kick look like a pat on the head for one lucky CP fan.

Chelsea are miles off challenging right now and I’ve seen nothing recently to suggest otherwise. I expect another season of ‘transition’ for them tbh. Hopefully Maresca gets binned mid-season as that’ll mean they are mid-table, or worse.

Bakayoko looks a great, and gettable talent, but I'd go for Chiesa now. He looked sharp at the Euros, can beat a man and is a very solid all round technician- great finisher too.
It's not about his ability, but I am desperate for Chiesa to come to spurs. He is a player I've followed since his debut and remember thinking what a talent. Just so inventive, so clever, so quick minded, looks to create magic every time he gets the ball. At that time he was more a centre forward/number 10 and couldn't score for shit. But I just loved watching him play and have taken an active eye on his career ever since.

So it's not even down to ability, though I do think it would be a great signing. I want Chiesa because to have him come to spurs would be like a bit of a dream. So I for one am not overly upset that Neto isn't coming to us (I don't think he is worth 54m either, but that's neither here nor there).

I think this is far from a given with the way Chelsea are going about things and their current manager who has a lot of questions still to answer.

Yep. This will be the reason.

None of this Mendes 'dragging us along' malarky. That excuse was so predictable.

Chelsea stumped up the money. We didnt.

I get it. We are run by Levy and not Todd Boely.

But he was Ange's main choice. Lets see if we live to regret it.

Chelsea don’t do ‘transitions’, they just buy players and change managers until they win.

Whether it is Maresca or someone else, they will still win trophies. You can argue otherwise but like anything in life, money talks.

I never had the same enthusiasm with Neto as most here. His stats are atrocious, his injury record too, and Eze is 10 times the player he is, for me (considering we could only sign one of them). I saw the potential in him for Ange’s system, though, and would like his signing. Thing is, if he sees that pathetic Chelsea project and wants to be part of it, he is already the wrong guy for us, so I’m happy we’re not getting him after all. Just watch Ange’s quotes about the desire of the player to come here and the contrast with Solanke’s desperation to come to Spurs, and that tells you all. We had no problem in dropping 60m on a striker with pretty much one good PL season in his belt, so I’m not buying that we would never pay close to it on Neto. If he’s not coming, I actually think there’s good reason to. Now, let’s hope the data led team can come with good options for that right wing, and as always, COYS.
