I’ve had a chance to think about this and Dybala and GLC are the ones I want.

Would elevate us to another level.

Coutinho would be a bonus.

Dybala be the most exciting signing of my lifetime

I think the image rights issue is between ex agent and current agent. I doubt we are liable. When transfer happens, the image right of the player goes to buying club in England. This leaves the dispute between Image Star and Dybala and current agent.

So there is no need to get approval from Image Star for the transfer me thinks. ?

Feeling strangely positive about this one. If he's finally accepted he's not going to get any games at Juve and genuinely likes the idea of Spurs and London, then we're practically his (and Juve's) only out. Juve are desperate to get rid, so you'd imagine us, them and the player will all be trying to push the deal through before the deadline. It's just a matter of thrashing out a deal.

If this fails I bet it will be over some silly image rights technicality. Fingers crossed we can make it happen.

If we did manage to get him it would be huge for our global status. A proper superstar that's world known at Spurs. Tanguy is class and coveted but still developing. If we could pull this off I think it could really catapult us as a club.

Agreed. Tanguy is a proper talent and looks as though he could have a very high ceiling, but he's more of a Modric, Iniesta, Busquets, even Yaya Toure, in the sense that he's the type of player who dictates play, holds everything together and provides the foundations for the more "glamorous" or "marketable" players to shine.

Dybala on the other hand is only one tier below the likes of Ronaldo and Messi in terms of marketability, for me.

If we pull this signing off it will probably be the most exciting signing since VDV.
I really, really, really want Dybala but I honestly believe Ndombele is our most important signing this window.

However you said "exciting" so I agree.

featured star on FIFA menus etc last year and PES this year he's huge in terms of merchandising etc.

I refuse to believe Spurs were completely unaware of the image rights issue, agent fees, player’s preference, etc before we decided to make this move.

With such little time left, you just have to think we’ve been given encouragement from somewhere.

Juve seem to want him gone, so surely they would’ve explained all of these things to us?

James Horncastle with a few tweets. He covers Italian football and always comes across as quite calm. Not saying he’s got inside knowledge but he might know the player. He basically says it’s down to the player now if he wants to come. He’s done various tweets on it in this thread.

I am extremely hopeful that he would and could be persuaded by Poch and the coaching staff to buy into this if he was also shown around our training facilities, I am less optimistic that he will buy into the numbers in terms of wages that Levy will offer. If it falls down my bets are because of the latter. That said I've not given up on this.

Let's all get clued up shall we: https://www.lawinsport.com/content/...amed-salah-and-the-egypt-football-association

Basic background: In a football context, image rights are simply the right a player possesses to control, sell, license and otherwise monetise his or her likeness – that is, his or her image, name, nickname, voice, signature and all other characteristics unique to the player.

Admittedly it's about Salah, but provides a link to here: https://www.lawinsport.com/content/...-status-of-image-rights-companies-in-football

Key considerations in establishing the image rights structure

In order to set up an image rights company it must be clear that the individual has an image that has an independent value to sponsors. If the image has a value, and the player or manager wants to hold this in a separate entity in order to protect and separately manage those rights, the image should be valued and the rights formally transferred/assigned to a company. Capitals gains tax (CGT) will typically be due on the transfer of rights based on the market value of those rights. Tax advice should always be taken on establishing such a structure.

Once the company is established and the rights transferred, then on any future transfer a club will need to negotiate a deal between the player or manager personally for their playing performance duties. In addition, if they want access to the individual’s image for commercial activities over and above the basic rights granted at Clause 4 of the Premier League contract, then the club will separately need to negotiate a deal with the image rights company.

Often, the individual will not be UK domiciled for tax purposes and will have worked in a number of other countries before coming to the UK. Consequently, the individual’s image rights may be more popular outside the UK than in the UK. In that scenario, the individual might establish two image rights companies; a UK resident company to manage UK rights, and a non-UK resident company to manage non-UK rights. There is often clearly a tax benefit for doing so, as it ensures that non-UK source income from personal commercial deals are not brought into the UK tax net for non-domiciled individuals. However there are often also significant commercial benefits; the non-UK resident company often has access to or knowledge of non-UK markets and can therefore maximise the value of such rights. There is no reason why non-UK rights of a player or manager currently working in the UK would need to be managed in the UK.

Historically, there was pressure on clubs to monitor the benefit they receive from the image rights arrangements as they would any other commercial contract they enter into. Assessing the benefit of an individual player or manager on the clubs commercial activities can be difficult – what is the incremental value of one player on a club commercial deal?

I’ll be honest, comments like these aren’t even fucking funny anymore. It’s genuine that we are fucking trying. Would you rather us not and then moan that we didn’t get anyone in?

This is obviously a very complex deal because of the image rights but to be a big club we have to try.

Sorry if I’m just picking on you and your post, but it’s just getting tedious now.

I get that but just feel people should brace them selves for that comment tomorrow as it gets trotted out a lot our transfer windows.

As you say least we did try and I hope to god this deal comes off!

I don't know why. Maybe battle hardened by transfers sagas gone by like your Moutinhos, Falcaos, Willians etc, but I have this sickening feeling in my gut that this won't happen. As if it's too good to be true for us.

Prove me otherwise, Levy.

This is all the sort of shit that the agents talk about - and the detail is dealt with later. The problem is, that on full DD, it may well be that the headline points are all fine, but once drilled down there may be fundamental unsolvable issues. I'm not saying that's the case here. But akin to someone pitching to Dragon's Den with an idea, the Dragons loving it, and then finding out that actually everything is owned by George Agdgdgwngo.
