Signing Dybala (Argie) and Coutinho (Brazilian) doesn't make as much sense as signing Dybala (Argie) and Lo Celso (Argie).

Ozzie and Ricky reincarnate.
That's the dream for me too but I just can't see us affording both after we signed Ndombele, even if we sell Eriksen. The latest Herc ITK makes most sense financially. It will be Coutinho on loan and one of Dybala or Lo Celso. I'm sure Dybala will be our 1st choice of the 2 but hope we don't get disappointed if we end up with Lo Celso.

I think the more compelling argument would be "signing Dybala (perm) and Coutinho (loan) doesn't make as much sense as signing Dybala (perm) and Lo Celso (perm)" but I see your point... :playful:

I must be looking at the wrong Image Star, unless they have a sideline selling printer ink.

I'm pretty sure we will have had a good idea about any problems with this deal before agreeing a fee. The issue is probably getting it structured so it suits all parties.

Juve don’t own the image rights - that’s the whole complication. It’s a third party.
I was responding to DiMarzos comment

Di Marzio:

The transfer window closes on August 8th in England, so the coming hours will be exciting for the Premier League fans. For Paulo Dybala as well, as he's in contacts with Tottenham after the Spurs have found an agreement with Juventus. An important matter that has to be solved quickly is related to the player's image rights, a matter that had already been in the air during the negotiations with United.

The company which owns Dybala's image rights has advised Tottenham (there have been contacts yesterday) that they couldn't close a deal without Juventus involved in the process, or rather that they couldn't get Paulo's image rights without them. Should Tottenham find an agreement on salary and commissions with Dybala's agent, they still should have to find another agreement with this company (image star) that belongs to his former agent, Pierpaolo Triulzi.

Wonder what kind of agreement it would be with the image rights company. Millions or tens of millions?

Presumably they get a hefty chunk every time we were to use Dybala to promote anything, if we were to sign him.

Here’s a link to the Standard Premier League contract that you very much doubt exists.

Clearly contract terms can vary but this sets out the usual expectation.

I stand corrected on that front. As you say it doesn't mean anyone actually uses it anyway.

As to the other stuff, there is even an arbitration provision in that standard form. It doesn't imply anything other than the parties have agreed to use it.

If anyone can negotiate a deal with Dybala and sort out the image rights stuff, I believe it would be Levy and his team. Fingers crossed, if we pull this off we're winning the quadruple

That's why I don't understand this when Juve sign him without reaching agreement with them. Why we can't give up on this :D
Every tom, dick and Harry wants a piece of a transfer when it’s happening. This really won’t be anything different from what normally happens with these big transfers. They’re just trying to get their cut. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Saw even an 40m. But yesterday Delaney's said it's close to 10m.

The 3rd party involvement does give me Moutinho flashbacks. Hopefully we are in a better position now to resolve these things.

Herc saying Juve have agreed a 5 year payment plan gives hope, I assume the thinking is we need the initial payment to be low so we can deal with the agent and image rights fees. I appreciate most deals are staggered but I do believe the initial payment is usually a fair bit larger than the rest.

If we did manage to get him it would be huge for our global status. A proper superstar that's world known at Spurs. Tanguy is class and coveted but still developing. If we could pull this off I think it could really catapult us as a club.

Not sure if I'm that confident but the club will have done their due diligence to understand what the complications are.

Although it may be a case of where we have acted quick and are figuring some stuff out along the way due to time constraints.

It's quite interesting though how when United were linked it was reported as 'close to completion but just a few formalities' whereas with us it's 'very difficult'

I honestly think he'd be our Zola, our Bergkamp, our Cantona, etc
