Most of that was achieved but "the club" has created the need for much more through some bizarre desire to go back to being a young, hungry, "nearly there" team. That's not the shift in mentality I had expected after moving into the new stadium and reaching a CL final.

To me it looks like that's a Poch decision rather than a club decision. It does seem that Poch prefers working with younger players, and doesn't really know how to manage the older players... which leads to the situation we're in now.

Much as I hate to say it, I think if we stick with Poch we're always going to be a "nearly" team. I just don't think he's shown enough signs of progression as a manager, and I think that's the biggest worry. If he really can only work with young players, then we're never going to take the next step, because with very, very rare exceptions, young teams just don't win trophies.

Think that's why the older guys want out. It's not just money. They want to win something before they retire.

100% agree. Writing "the club" was me being diplomatic...

The players have to look at themselves as well. Poch imo has got plenty out of these players by working them hard to negate some lack in quality , some believe they're better than what they're.... prime examples Danny Rose Vertonghen Toby Lloris Eriksen etc

all I see at the moment is the painful bit.

not much sign of a rebuild.
Poch is making a big mistake continually trusting certain players like Eriksen and some others. He specifically insisted on Lo Celso Ndombele and Sessesgon he will get them in the team at some point- fitness is important. I look at the our squad and see an emerging team waiting in the wings. Will he be given the time is my worry

Foyth
Ndombele
Lo Celso
Sanchez
Winks
Son
Lamela
Kane
Alli
Skipp
Tanganga
Parrott
Sessesgon
KWP
Moura
Davies
Gazza

(other additions a must)

I see your point. I get that Sess and Lo Celso have been injured.

I too think we have exciting players waiting in the wings. the question is, why on earth don’t they get a chance? i thought the last CL game may have been a turning point, but i felt really let down by the selections yesterday.

for example - if you don’t trust Verts/Toby fine. where is Tanganga? impressive in pre season, missing sonce.

Aurier - could have left. Poch said Foyth was going to be a RB. where has Foyth been? he’s played for Argentina but not us ffs.

Again, its clear Eriksen and Alli need to be binned. so why hasn’t Moura had a chance? Why hasn’t Lo Celso had more than 5 minutes here and there?

Where has Parrott been? He’ll probably get a full International cap before he gets meaningful game time for us.

When is this rebuild starting? because at the moment Poch is burying his head in the sand, and in the process, killing our season.

This is why the Real Madrid tedious links make me laugh. How is he going to cope with players with the egos the size of the Ramos's, Bale's and Benzema's of the world.
