I just watched a wonderful video and I'd love for all of you guys to watch it and enjoy it as much as I did. Personal testimonies from Martin Jol (who was in the stadium that night) Darren Fletcher who did the match commentary for BT Sport, Jermain Jenas (who sat next next to him) and some other guy whose name I can't remember. Some brilliant clips from the match too. Watching this, I felt like blubbing all over again. Enjoy...

Thanks for posting this. That night and that goal was much better than the 2 league cup wins that I have seen in my lifetime.

I'm glad the club has been pushing clips and videos this week.

For the longest time i couldn't watch highlights from this game as it was so linked to the disappointment that followed. But, thankfully, after a year, i find myself able to watch all this again and just relieve the pure joy of that night, without the rest of it bleeding in.

This is football, moments and memories... peaks of such high complex emotion that is so hard to find in any other walk of life.

Whilst this was an amazing night, looking back it just makes me sad. The fact that we went on to lose the final with such a lacklustre performance after this makes it seem so meaningless.

Looking at Poch's reactions that night and with hindsight, you can see that he wasn't going to recover from that night very easily.
The emotion was just too much and it was the first "massive night" of his career. It was all just too much for him when the final fell away, he shot his bolt too early.
I'd still love for him to come back to us, once he's got a bit more experience and had some time for reflection/re-evaluation.

Brilliant memories though. Love it, love him and love them.

Sadly the final tainted it for me. A europhic moment completely tarnished by poor tactics and a lacklustre performance.

Couldn't contain my emotions that night, remember crying non stop for days after, the final though was more like meh and carried on as per.

That game was sensational. It was an emotional roller coaster. It must have been so cruel for the Ajax supporters.

Maybe the story will never come out but the final was such a strange affair. It was as if we never really tried. Like something was going on behind the scenes.

I don’t care anymore that we lost the final. That was special. Being a spurs fan you are much more geared for disappointment. This was the first time (apart from the city games) where we didn’t walk away thinking “what if?” And watching it with my son. And the absolute outpouring of raw emotion. Will always stay with me. I hope we go on to win the league or the champs league. As that will be the only thing that beats that. And I’ve seen us win the UEFA, FA and league cup.

Who knows what happened in that final. I guess we may never know, but I'm sure that outrageous penalty awarded against us after only a minute or two wouldn't have done our confidence or our intensely worked out game-plan any favours.

Anyway, fuck that. Let's just celebrate the amazing trail we blazed in getting to Madrid. It gave us all the kind of hope and expectation we'd never experienced before against all the odds. Nobody gave us a prayer to get past City home and away, and nobody gave us a prayer after going down on aggregate 0-3 to Ajax at the end of that first half in Amsterdam.

But nobody realised what we were capable of until the miracle happened. The memories and the raw emotions from May 8th 2019 will stay with me until the day I die.

With all the dross we watched for the previous few months, that moment of excitement was once in a lifetime stuff. We were so second best for 60mins. The turnaround was beyond stunning.

All the money I’ve gone through on mind altering substances, never got me anywhere near the buzz of that goal

Need to stop acting like we won something in this game

Posts like this really grind me. That day and night in Amsterdam was probably best I’ve ever had. Whole thing was magical thousands will share the same view, why can’t we revisit and enjoy one of the greatest come backs in the CL a year on
