Giroud would be an excellent short term solution to a massive problem we currently have. I’d absolutely take him, ticks all the boxes.

I very much doubt Chelsea will do business with us considering top 4 etc

I don’t know much about his current level but I couldn’t care less about his past.

If his goals and contributions help gain us 4th spot then I’m not going to have any complaints whatsoever.

Can't believe I'm saying it but Giroud would do well in this team. He isn't going to score 1 in 2 but he has a decent touch and can do the hold up stuff we need. Surprised the Chavs are getting rid.

Surely we need someone who can hack 90 minutes each week sometimes twice until the end of the season at least. Giroud is not that man. Perhaps a another and Giroud on bench until the end of the season. That would be fine but Giroud on his own not for me.

Chelsea have barely used him this season....and they have struggled up top in several games. Even as a backup to Piatek I don't see the point, would rather give that game time to Parrott.

Not sure what we think he can offer but its a no from me.

Too old and doesn't score enough for me even when he has a run of games, so given the choice I would massively prefer the other options. If he as all that was available, well... I wouldn't like it, but we do need someone of that ilk up front.

I'd take giroud, he is still used as the main striker for france and has amazing link up play and holds the ball up really well and brings others in, you could easily see him providing some nice flicks and passes to alli, son, lucas and the rest. Plus he is a big target man so would be very handy even when kane is fit.

Would rather have Jose Willian. According to ITK, just about any deal would get him here whereas Giroud - can't see Chavs dealing with us.

He’s 33 and can barely run anymore. He padded his stats against farmers in the Europa League last year. He has absolutely lost it, he’s a **** and wouldn’t be worth the wages or dealing with Chelsea.

Some of you have embarrassingly low standards.
I think we are just realistic considering the options that appear to be available.

I don't think it's realistic to consider Chelsea loaning/selling us a striker right at the end of the transfer window when we're in dire need of one to try and catch them in the league, and that's without considering the fact we absolutely despise each other as clubs.

He's played in 9 of France's last 10 international fixtures, scoring I think 6 times.

This is a national side with Ben Yedder and Griezmann at their disposal.

Let's not pretend he's past it just yet. Also a national team mate of Lloris, Sissoko and Ndombele which would help him settle pretty quickly.

Plus he knows the Premier League inside out.

Not hugely bothered whether we sign him either way, but in terms of cover for Kane, we could do much much worse and spend a lot more on far bigger risks.

While I personally wouldn't mind having him, I have to agree that Hell would freeze over before Chelsea would do any deals with us. Both Chairmen hate each other. Abramovich is not even invited into the director's box when Chelsea visits.

Because Deschamps plays with a target man and France have literally no other decent big strikers. Looking at this huge impressive flurry of goals he's scored lately for them, they're against - Moldova, Iceland, Albania and Turkey. I must be wrong to not want him, I'll have to evaluate how I judge footballers as if he can strike down international juggernauts like them and Europa League monsters like BATE, PAOK, Fehervar, Malmo, Dynamo Kiev and Slavia Prague - he might just be the perfect Kane stand-in and somebody worth letting Chelsea shaft us for.

Although, last year in the league he did notch assists against Southampton, Cardiff (2), Bournemouth whilst scoring against Brighton and us. Man, I really hope we can make this deal work. Can't believe how wrong I was to not want him at first.

This sentence also works well when you replace "Deschamps" with "Mourinho", and "France" with "Tottenham".

A striker who can tap them in against shite-to-middling opposition probably would have seen us beat Watford, Southampton and Boro (at the first time of asking) in recent weeks, which would have meant being 1 point off 4th place.

Nice one @Spurrific, I think you've sold him to me a little more (y)

I'm going to be fuming if we don't sign him
