Rather a 6 month championship loan for some game time and development. Then bring him back for the 2nd half of the season to provide some steel and cover for Hojbjerg.

Depending on other outgoing midfielders it may be better to keep him until January after the Europa group games and loan him out second half of the season

I see him linked with a loan to forest. That is exactly what he needs in my opinion.

wouldn't it be good to keep him around the squad?

If we bring in Hojbjerg we still need someone to be able to play the games he can't, or if he gets injured.
Other wise its Winks or Sissoko again...

There were plenty of games we could have used his presence this season but Mourinho ignored him. He eventually started bulking up the midfield and our form improved dramatically but Skipp was still left out. I don't see that changing next season, especially if Hojbjerg comes in. All in all, I think a loan is best for him.

I think he’s good enough to play here, especially with EL football next season. I’d ship out Sissoko if we want to trim the squad a little.

Fulham would be a perfect fit for both Skipp and Parrott. I almost hope they don't get promoted for the reason alone.

Sending the kids out on loan is the best option. We fucked KWP so hard by keeping him year after year and barely playing him. Having Skipp as a 5th choice CM will not decide how our season pans out. It's better for everyone long term to let them play somewhere else and gain experience.

I think a lot depends on what Jose plans to do with Lo Celso and Ndombele.

Even if we sell Sissoko, he could still have Hojberg, Winks, Lo Celso and Ndombele to compete with for 2 places. Plus Gedson, Dele, Lamela and Dier can all do a job if necessary.

We may be best off sticking with Sissoko for another season and use him sparingly, while Skipp gets regular game time in the Championship.

Harvey White could then have a year with the first team before heading out next season.

I would agree with WiganSpur. Personally I hope Mourinho plays him more here.

He is not a liability out there. Certainly no more than Sissoko. He might be a bit too conservative in possession to have much positive value, but those things can quickly change with a bit more regular game time and confidence.

It wouldn't bother me for a second if we got a couple of injuries and Skipp was asked to play regularly for awhile.

Loan definitely the best option.

When on the steep part of the learning curve you need weekly match day experience.

Using him here and there isn't getting that momentum going in terms of development and confidence.

Season long loan for me as he'll develop quicker.

I think it would be incredibly difficult to find a Championship club willing to take him only for 6 months AND have him be a first team player.

No club is going to take someone in and have them play an important role, but only for half a season and most crucially miss the most important parts (ie. the push for safety or push for promotion).

But we could loan him to a Championship club for the full season and recall him early if we are hit with CM injuries.

I hope they are considering using a loan for Skippy as potential leverage for acquiring a new player. IE, if we go after a Brooks or a Cantwell or an Aarons he could be included in that package to help offset costs.

Eh, I hope we’re just sending him to the best club for his development. If he ends up not playing consistently next year, it will cost us far more in the long run than whatever fee a loan could offset.

Would prefer him to join a championship club on loan instead of Fulham as I don't think he'd start a lot in the premiership. I get that Parker knows him well and for Fulham he makes sense as he is a cheap option for the year but if he moved to a championship club he'd likely be a nailed on starter but don't think that would be the case in the premiership yet.

Hopefully I'm wrong and if he does go there he gets 20+ starts but hard to see it happening.

I see a lot of similarities between Scott Parker and Oliver Skipp - would love for Skipp to get some Premiership experience while learning from Parker for a year.

Fulham would be a great move for him. Having watched Fulham a few times I think they'll struggle defensively again if they don't invest or make some decent signings. They are very very light in midfield and don't have any stand out performers. Cairney struggled last season in PL and they will need some midfielders focused on a defensive approach to have any hope of staying up. I think Skipp will be perfect for them and under the right guidance and a similar style of player that Parker will be of a huge benefit.

Parker was a bastard on the pitch - really aggressive in the tackle, commanding etc. Not seen enough of Skipp to know whether he has those characteristics but hopefully Parker can bring it out of him.

I suppose it depends on if they get reed back from Southampton, seems he was good for them last season but maybe Southampton will replace hojbjerg with him

This seems the likely scenario as Reed very much looks similar to Skipp in how they are utilised as a busy midfielder with a deep lying playmaker in Cairney next to him.

As others have said, under Parker's guidance this has the makings of a very productive loan move for all parties concerned.
