Odobert deal agreed

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement for the permanent transfer of Wilson Odobert from Burnley, subject to formalities.

The 19-year-old has agreed a deal that will run until 2029 and will wear shirt number 28.

Wilson began his career in the Academy of Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Troyes in July, 2022, where he scored four goals in 32 appearances.

looks a really exciting prospect.

good height, pace, can dribble and shoot off either foot. a bit inconsistent right now but shows signs of big potential. honestly more excited by this than pretty much every other winger we've been linked to.

Looks like more great potential alongside Bergvall and Gray. Europa league should be fun this season and hopefully he can make an impact in the PL as well.

Can't pretend I'm not a little disappointed that we've not done more to immediately improve our obvious problems last season of an inability to break down low blocks, having BJ and Deki as our first choice RWs and no creative CM for when Maddison is not at it or injured. Not to mention a DM who can actually defend (maybe that's AG). It's not as if our first team was perfect and we only needed depth. The first team was and remains a long way from complete.

There is still time in this window but it seems like we are taking an ultra long term view of this project. I just hope Ange is around to see it through as it's a results business and personally think he could do with a little more help in the here and now than only adding Solanke to last season's line up.
