Sure, but our problems aren’t limited to freakish injury crisis at CB. They precede this season by many years, they relate to who we recruit, who we dont, the culture of mediocrity and acceptance and expectation of failure, the fact that we used to be a club that regularly won things and are we now known and ridiculed as the club that wins F**k all.

It’s not about our CB and who’s injured and fit. Nobody described the current state of the club better than Conte in his last press conference. Some people cheered him on, some were horrified but in my opinion he spoke the unvarnished truth, for which he of course got fired.

Ange could be doing better for sure, the players could be playing better for sure, notwithstanding the crazy injury crisis we have right now combined with natural fatigue, but again, in my opinion these are minor issues when set against the bigger picture of what’s truly wrong at our club.
At the moment they are. Once we get back to some normality then you can reassess the new situation but until then our current situation is down to our freakish injury crisis.

Nah, it's not the reason. It doesn't help of course but injuries are not the biggest problem.

Of course they're the biggest problem, you might think there are longer term problems but at the present time they are obviously the biggest problem.
When we can get back to a full(ish) squad we can then make judgements on other possible problems.

Unfortunately, our current injuries and the lack of rotation they are causing, will most likely be a long term problem, as those playing every game lose their ability to recover fully from match to match, according to an article for them Athletic I posted in the Ange thread:

“And we saw with the athlete who had played more than four consecutive games that his ability to recover was actually reduced for a long time thereafter. Not only would we see a potential reduction in performance in the matches, and a possible higher risk of injury, but a potential long-term effect too.

“So, is that type of sequencing actually negative for performance from a chronic perspective as well? Because we found that the athlete, even with two weeks of general training and no match exposure, failed to get back to their previous levels of autonomic function (the body’s involuntary physiological processes). It indicates that you could have a lasting negative effect if they’re not managed and rotated intelligently when it comes to game stress and load.”

I remember 1977 well.

Never thought that this would be remotely possible that season, "too good to go down".

As a single lad, I missed three games that season home and away and always thought that we would be safe, win the next one and we would somehow survive. Todays game reminded me of that season.

Please laugh at me all you want. Our next five fixtures, pick me a win?

Wolves
Newcastle
Liverpool
Woolwich
Everton
Yea I don’t want to be overly negative but with out injuries, the way we are playing and the way the opposition 5 teams there are playing I can’t see a single win right now. Slim chance of wins vs Wolves H and Everton A but both unlikely on current form. If we didn’t get a win In those next 5 I’d not just worry for Ange’s job but also for being sucked towards relegation.

We weren’t exactly pulling up trees before this injury crisis either - this season or last season. We’ve lost about half of our last 40 games.

It would b easy to blame Ange for that and he certainly has to take some responsibility, or the CB we have injured (all at the same time) but the bigger picture is Levy and how this club is run under him.
