I thought we’d been ok, just wasteful in the final third, a huge vacuum in midfield, and look like we’re going to concede every time an attack breaks down. Which made me question whether we actually have been ok. I don’t even know anymore. Forest don’t look great at all but no doubt we’ll find a way to shoot ourselves in the foot again

Deki’s at least trying to make things happen and move defenders around. Attack feels less predictable when he’s on the ball.
He's also wasting promising positions, much like the first half against Liverpool.

It’s a little unforgivable from Son. We could have scored our first chance if we picked out Johnson when he was in loads of space. Such poor decision making from our captain.
Only just seen that now. Had his head down.

You should always use the highest scoring chance option. He failed to even see it.

I mean the goal came from Spence playing upfront and losing the ball. Udogie was also in their half level with Bentancur. Just pause it when we lose the ball, the positions we’re in are awful and that is down to the tactics.
Because you’re not expecting your team mate to lose the ball there?

Don’t know what Spence was trying to do but when he lost the ball, both and closest team mate, Johnson in this case, didn’t try hard enough to win the ball back, or stop the counter

Rest of team mates caught flat footed

Spence is trying to make things happen, but this sort of moment / inexperience is why Porro is default first choice

Looks similar to the way it typically does under Ange against teams that drop off, hold their positions and congest the middle.

We can’t come up with a solution so try to force it mid, lose the ball with and concede a goal on the counter.

I wish we could learn and see some improvement.

As Boxing Day away performances go we are playing well. Spurned two really good chances in the first 5 minutes; Kulusevski didn’t shoot because he wouldn’t use his right foot(!) in the 1st minute an Son shot when he should have passed to Johnson in acres of space.
We’ve probably been the better team but they are dangerous on the break as their goal showed.
We don’t have enough from wide areas as neither wide player will take on the FB - nothing new there then - which makes it easy for the Forest defense with everything in front of them.

He should have been in big trouble well before that. It’s the same thing being exposed every week.
Well im thinking more in terms of what Levy will do. But no improvement with Bentancur in there is a massive worry. For all the pelters our wingers are getting, Postecoglou gave his approval to sign Johnson and Werner.

What stats are those?

Most passes backwards
Most non effective passes
Most passes received and done nothing?

Even if correct, what does it say? We could be 13th by the end of this weekend. Son having our best “stats” hardly says much.

If Davies is almost back and we can move Archie to DM, that on its own feels like it would help us so much. There’s not a defensive clue in that midfield

Annoying. Played well. That goal a classic case of something VDV would see off in his sleep.
Im not sure we've played well. We've played ok but dont really look that threatening tbh. Forest look far more dangerous on the break.

Disagree a bit on Werner. He has no space in behind to run into. Not sure how much he would offer but I suppose can't do worse than Son is.

Well well well, a reasonable and balanced viewpoint.
