I know it was the NLD but the way some of you lot are going on makes it seem like we lost by 3 or 4 goals. We largely dominated the match again but didnt have the quality to convert anything in attack. Arsenal basically parked the bus and prayed that one of their set pieces would come off which to be fair to them, did work. If we were getting hammered I'd get it but we arent playing badly at all.

The real issue is Lange and Levy not getting a top quality winger which we so desperately needed. I got pelters on here when I showed disappointment in making Odobert our only winger purchase and now people are realising we are still severely lacking in that area. Its going to be a testing season due to our lacklustre attacking options but please...enough with the dramatics like we are in a crisis or some BS.

Not good enough to be honest. In fairness Arsenal set up well defensively (they already had the best defense in the league) with 2 banks of 4 and Havertz and Trossard closing down the passing lanes. Nevertheless with the possession we had we should do better but with Son and Johnson as our wide players we don’t get crosses in. They don’t take on the FBs and we don’t have players who overlap so having Solanke at CF is a moot point as he’s getting no service. I’m afraid to say but Son is the elephant in the room; he’s simply doesn’t fit this system.
Fair

He doesn't stretch the pitch and as soon as he receives he looks to cut into already congested areas.

He needs to hold the width to allow Udogie space for the underlap and Maddison to drop deep to receive if a move isn't on.

Son's ability to score from those inside curlers seems like it has totally deserted him. Which takes away a huge amount of his effectiveness.

But I've been saying since Ange came in, we need a Son replacement.

But instead this club will look to milk every last drop out of him rather than realise that and have someone here now who can at least push him.

Werner isn't that guy.

Odobert maybe but won't be til next season and we need him on the right anyway.

Liverpool went big on all their attacking players and whilst some are probably not elite, some are certainly close to it and it means they'll finish off most teams this season and look effective.

We bottled this window and got the excuses in that the players weren't there or "we are going with the youth " - who didn't even get a single minute today other than Odobert

Difference between there project is they kept seeing progress every year bit by bit. if anything we have regressed in the second season. If Ange doesn’t get this team firing by Xmas he will be gone.
Ummmmmm they had fans outside the stadium asking for their owners out, manager out, players out, ur rewriting history. I can’t debate with absolute lies.

That's shocking indeed.

We're the easiest side in the league to play against so I'm not surprised. Defend compact and just wait for us to lose the ball. We will. If that doesn't work there's always set pieces.

It might work in Scotland and Asia cup against semi professionals, but not in the PL.

What the fuck do we even do in training? It's not working on attacking patterns and it certainly is not defending.
The attackers probably look amazing in training because they’re up against our defence!

Unfortunately not. Don't get me wrong in that there are elements to Ange's tactics that largely revolve around the words 'naivety' and 'stubbornness' that I find really frustrating, but ultimately under this ownership we will end up with the same sort of stumbling blocks whoever we employ as manager. That's unless we end up getting really fortunate, which is what I always feel this ownership banks on when it comes to success on the pitch.
But we all know how ruthless levy is. I’m not saying firing Ange is the right decision but if levy doesn’t see progress by Xmas he won’t hesitate.

That second half was a disgrace.
Absolutely no urgency and zero fucks given by everyone other than Porro & VDV quite frankly.

Shoulders slumped after conceding and no belief that we could equalise.

How the fuck Kulusevski played 95 mins is beyond me. He trundled around, either getting in the way or conceding possession the entire game.
Son was a shambles, can’t beat a man and awful in possession.
Maddison goes missing when we need creativity.
Johnson has no bollocks.

The subs were laughable. Sarr on as deepest midfielder and moving Son into number 10 are shocking decisions.

Bergvall & Gray must be sat there thinking ‘how the fuck have we not got on the pitch’?

Lilywhite? More like lily livered. Fucking spineless. I don’t normally react but that second half has made my piss boil.
Agree two wings in Son and Johnson that were just ineffective with Johnson just lacking any conviction. Kulu so wasteful in that first half and Maddison just not able to impact the game at all. Why a transfer strategy of filling the squad with young guys like Bergval and Gray if they can’t get on when Madds and Kulu just aren’t doing it and were so ponderous.

Solanke put himself about and with better service will do well. Lots of possession in their final third but no quality and sadly Vicario’s weakness on crosses is going to be a repeat feature game after game.

Yes but if you look at the statistics for each season. You can see progress in where they finished. We will be so lucky to finish 5th this season the way we are at the moment.

Oh we will undoubtedly fire him before addressing the bigger issue that's for sure.

Really don’t get the negativity on here.

Issue is a serious lack of quality in the final third. Their defence was incredible today, but our wingers are so poor. Big question mark for me now is over Vicario and our wingers. Think this is Sonny’s last season.
I expect the negativity is part because Ange identified and signed those terrible wingers for his possession based football.

When signing players He says he doesn’t believe there is much difference between a top player and the level below, I think he is finding out the hard way there is!

Sorry mate - draw would have been fair - but we didn’t dominate them. We didn’t pay a glove on them

We are entering a trying period now for us as a club and for Ange.

Feel we have no other choice but to grin and bear it and hopefully the players step up to make things count in the interim.

Ange needs to find solutions to some of the problems of his own making with team setup and personnel choices but we as a club have also got to take responsibility for not providing him with the tools required which falls once again at the boards feet.

Could really do with domestic and European cup football to experiment (to a degree) and to find solutions - an early Cup exit would be utterly disastrous though
are you kidding me ?
a early cup exit is guaranteed with this lot, haven't you been watching,
there just not good enough.
Maddison has stop balling because he's realise apart from Son , he's the only other baller in the team LOL!

Firstly, "their" project.

Secondly, it's 4 games in, that's hardly a "second" season as a comparison.

You don't have to grin and bear it. We should make a change if needed and have to consider Ange may not be the one if the tide doesn't turn.

The club is the club and same shit.

Can someone please tell me the obsession with a set piece coach? Is there something up their sleeve that a defensive coach cant do, or any player worth salt doesn’t already know? Mark ur man, claim the ball, get on with the game.
Just a convenient stick to beat Ange with. Them scoring was nothing to do with a set piece coach it was just a player in Romero who was weak and a keeper that won’t dominate his box.

Thankfully we have a lot of games coming up now, which gives us time and opportunity to start clicking. We need to work in some chemistry and confidence in the attack, and I still believe we have it in us.
