Don't think there's much in this story to be honest. He joined Roma last summer from Inter's B/Youth team and probably signed a "not going to be a starter" contract and now that he's spent the season being a starter/key bench player he wants a new deal so his agent is kicking up a fuss in the press. Just my read of the situation.

Also read that Roma might need money if they don't get CL football - and they're in 6th so that looks likely.

That makes more sense but also in that scenario 0% chance anyone is bailing them out by spending 40m on their 2nd choice CM who has been good for 19 but not lit the league on fire. Maybe someone helps them out at 20-25m but they have a lot of key players aging out. Wouldn't be surprised if they have to cash in on someone like El Shaarawy and a couple of the dozen odd youth 'prodegies' they've vacuumed up over the last few years under Monchi.

Inter just can’t help themselves. Another swap deal that completely blows up in their face.

This one has come up again via the Guardian article on NDombele. Legs?

Although he is a slightly different player, I do get the feeling that he is a backup in case we fail to sign one of our primary targets in N'Dombele or Lo Celso.

Mega player and totally built for the PL.

Can't see him leaving Italy though.

Seems to be suggested that Hytner has good connections at Spurs, and he keeps bringing this kids name up. That said the way the article is written suggests they are sourcing info from the Roma end too.

This kid does seem to have real talent on his day, scored a hoddle-esque goal that went viral and also put in a match winning performance against Porto in the CL R16 (they lost the second leg). Very inconsistent though. I think I prefer Dani Ceballos over him if our interest is legit in both.

He looks like a Poch type player. Tall, athletic, direct. Where would you play him though? He is more winger or AM is he not?

I assume the link to Zaniolo has cropped back up off the back of the Toby to Roma story yesterday.

Can’t see it personally - Toby’s release clause is £25m and Roma have been on about wanting upwards of £70m for Zaniolo.

Great player though from what I’ve seen. Maybe offer them Lamela alongside Toby and see what happens

While they aren't anywhere near equivalent now, flipping Toby and a little cash for Zainolo would be very good value considering the age and unfortunate contract situation involved. Can't see Toby consenting to go to Roma though, no CL.

Hynter definitely has connections people and other Journos trust which makes me feel more comfortable in it. Doesn't mean he's always right but he definitely always makes sure he has a couple sources before posting.
