Yes for Gaitan, ...any Argentinian ....Pastore wouldn't be bad either.
Pastore would be an awful purchase. He has not played well for a couple of seasons now, will require a big fee and it is highly questionable if he is better than Holtby or Eriksen tbh.

£25m on a player where we have an absolute ton of depth? Not for me.

Eriksen and Lamela in particular need time. I just don't see that we need this guy. A LB and (if YK's injury doesn't get any better) CB appear more important

like i said previously. its more then english. we all need a buddy, be i someone to sit with during meals, or the person next to u on the coach, its important to a new player to have someone just to "hang" with.

i really want lamela to do well thou, i think he is class...

I'd suspect he is getting on well with the Brazilians, as Portunol is widely known and understood amongst Brazilians and their Spanish-speaking neighbors. Their cultures are also very similar.

My guess this story is BS and that if we do any business it will be looking for a LB and maybe another striker if we can let JD and Ade go

Lamela prefers to play in the middle

I kow you've seen him play in Argntina when he was younger but I'm just going off what I've seen at Roma. He looked more comfortable on the right and tended to drift there even when played as a forward. Of course, a lot of that had to do with Totti. Do you think he'd prefer a behind-the-striker role here? It'll be hard to get in over Eriksen.

CAM is his natural position. It's been his best position for River and the national team. At Roma, he had Totti. Whether he prefers to fight for the CAM role or not, depends entirely on him. What I'm sure of, is that he will inevitable end up playing in that position. Maybe not now, but def in a couple of years

I really hope you are right. I loved watching him in Serie A last year and a lot of people here really do not know how much of a gem we have on our hands. Regardless of where he plays he has the potential to be world class but not many people have the patience to see that. I was taunted by Gooner work colleagues this morning about wasting 30mil on a guy who can't even get a game and just laughed it off. A serious lack of foresight there. I'm happy AVB isn't rushing him as adapting to England is extremely difficult and if it takes him a whole season to adapt then so be it. He'll be well worth it.

Gaitan is good but this would be a luxury purchase. We have so many good attacking midfielders now and need to spend our funds on full backs and another good striker.

I'm not sure he'll find his place. At both positions are young players just barely older than he is that are performing well in the league. I must admit the Lamela situation was a concern to me when we got him, and has continued to grow in my mind. This is case in point why I yammered on about Ljajic.

As for Gaitan, why would we want yet another lefty winger? Despite his ability to play on the left in a traditional set-up, wouldn't that only compound our current problem?

See if AVB goes in for Nicolas Otamendi...remember that was a cryptic rumour flying about over the summer. Seen that Chelsea are poised to sign him though, according to Marca.

Just skimmed through the Argentinian national team and seen that Marcos Rojo is a centre back/left back playing at Sporting CP. Anyone seen or heard much about him?
