On José Mourinho:

We had some fairly flattering exchanges over SMS. It was nice for everyone. He did not accept our proposal to meet because he has already chosen another club

Apparently right from the Lyon President.... I trust JJ so who else? Everton?

A very courteous decline to manage something that was being put to him by President Aulas (of Olympique Lyonnais, presumably). That's the definite part of the sentence. As for Mourinho wanting to take a job elsewhere or implying that such a thing is in prospect, that may well be the case or it may not. Whatever, neither man lost face, and neither closed the door to the other, which is how such people behave in social situations.

Last night, Lyon announced the removal of Sylvinho as manager of the club. He becomes the shortest-serving manager in the club’s history, presiding over the club for just 11 competitive matches.

Perhaps Mourinho had this in mind.

Likely unrelated to us but:

Mohamed Bouhafsi: In a press conference, President Aulas confirms the news #RMCsport yesterday. He tried to convince José #Mourinho but the Portuguese coach declined, because he's about to take a new job elsewhere.

Reminds of when a girl says "Sorry, I have a boyfriend".

Narrator: She doesn't

:nailbiting:

Edit: knowing Aulas what he's saying about a new job for mounrinho is probably bullshit. I t will be him just trying to save face again.

It could be more a case of Mourinho being set on a club in particular regardless of whether there's an offer on the table from them. He's presumably in no rush and happy to wait for the right offer to come along.

I can't see JJ saying all this about us backing Poch with players if Mourinho's appointment was imminent.

no Ancelotti on the list - he would be my preferred choice if poch departs. Steady and experienced, Calm experienced head who has delivered trophies elsewhere.
