I've watched all those teams over the years, the Real Madrid team was his best one from the tactical attacking aspect and they scored countless goals from fast interchange football that had clearly been worked on off the training pitch. It was Real Madrid though....... but saying that I'd not sniff at some of that here.

The other Jose sides..... I think have all been very pragmatic and not a great watch, they often end up grinding down the opposition and then being ruthless if the chance arises. And all bar that Porto team (which was a monumental achievement, no doubt about it) was packed with individual quality to get the job done.

I wouldn't call it boring football per se, just not to my tastes. Many types of football aren't, especially what some would consider 'attacking' or exciting' etc. I didn't like much of Redknapp's open bollocks lottery football for instance, and said it many times and bored many on here to tears. I don't particularly like how Liverpool play football, even if they're storming the league currently and look unbeatable, as a current example. There were even several parts of Poch football I saw every week, even in the good times, that I thought were crap. But that's just me. The Cruyff/Spanish/Dutch school of thinking is my starting point in terms of my footballing tastes - high press, high line, having the ball is key, technical style of football etc.

But we shall see.........
Ten Haag would be your guy then mate

Looks like its gonna be Jose, Sky saying its close.

Really hope he ain't a washed up force now. People loving his past medals, but his recent record, and style of play, has been pretty wretched. Hope he's a rejuvenated Jose.
His recent record isn't wretched, in his last 2 & 1/2 seasons, he's finished second once (Poch has only every finished 2nd once ever as a coach), won the Europa League and won the league cup once.

Completely agree with the style of play at Utd though and also worry that he seems to fall out with players/staff.

One of the few pieces of ITK I’ve ever got, and posted on here in September 2017, was that Kane would never leave us if we matched his ambitions, however if that wasn’t the case he’d like either of the big Spanish two OR the only other English club he would ever consider would be Man Utd but it would never happen as long as Mourinho was in charge as he had no interest at all in playing under him.

Undoubtedly, that opinion can of course and has of course most likely changed, but it’s an interesting wrinkle to note. One would think Kane would definitely have had his opinion sought by Levy et al whilst negotiations were going on

Levy would have 100% vetted this through Kane

This story

I’d prefer a progressive coach like Rose or Nagelsman who’ve done their time at a relative lower ranked club and done well, now transferring that to a higher level club. However, it may be too soon for them given both are less than halfway through their first season in their new job.
From the available guys with track records of success, I think Allegri is more current, but I just don’t see it being him. It just looks like Jose is in pole position, but I’d love to see him come in and prove to the world he can still deliver with the other big guns, and do it without the budget he’s had previously, just to prove he can.
If it is Mourinho, then a new back room team could be the refresh he needs.
I hear you and agree with the progressive coach but I think that will have to wait for now cause this club is desperate for a winner. Someone to break this trophy drought we have. It will eventually go wrong with Jose but I'd rather give this a go now than try another 5 year project.

It took even Klopp 3 years to get Liverpool rolling by then Kane will be long gone.

I just want to win some trophies

I was 19 when we won the FA cup in 91.

I can take some boring football for trophies.

If we have won say five trophies, then we can go back to some ‘great footbal’.

We need a few pots first IMO

gards Knows fuck all!.... he’s been crying all night .... right knobber
He pretty much called it on the 12th Nov re Poch and against JJ's optimistic post on twitter. Gard's gets stuff mate and has done for years. Not always on point, but also ran with the Jose story first.

Edit JJ's post from 12th Nov

One thing I’ve always liked about Mourinho’s style is that he doesn’t use possession as if there is a separate league to win for highest possession. I’m overly ready for letting go of some possession obsession.
Absolutely. In particular, I'm really looking forward to ditching the dogmatic and IMO harmful obsession with playing the ball out short from the goalkeeper/in defence even when the opposition are successfully pressing us in our own defensive third: I think Mourinho will be much more prepared to go long from the back when necessary in games, and I think we'll benefit from it.

You missed the fairly crucial Sheffield United part
I didn't miss it - I just think life is slightly more complicated than you make out. Jose won trophies at teams he should have won at. Poch achieved minor miracles with us. I can't be arsed to go digging but I suspect at points in his career Jose has had low moments and lost against teams he should be beating.
