I know what you mean, but loving past managers hasn't gotten us anywhere (Jol and Poch).
I think Poch has taken us quite a long way personally.

CL final for starters.I think Poch has taken us quite a long way personally.

It certainly is when you don't have virtually unlimited funds to spend. They both did. Jol was the start of the new era imo. He gave us plenty to be proud of. Before Jol we didn’t finish top 6 in any of the previous 14 or 15 seasons ( with 1 European campaign )
Since him we’ve finished top 6 in 12 of the last 14 seasons ( with 13 European campaigns )
Poch has threatened to take the final step, but it’s the most difficult one to make.

I just don't understand this attitude. Jol took us from being a bang-average at best mid-table team to being basically the clear "best of the rest" outside the CL places. Poch has then taken us from being the "best of the rest" to being consistently top 4/CL-place finishers, occasionally flirting with a title challenge, and even to a CL final which nobody could've even dreamed of.
I just don't understand how people can brush that off as not achieving anything purely on the basis that we didn't win some poxy <insertsponsornamehere> Cup that nobody gives a fuck about. Just baffling.
You completely mis-understand the point I was making. I'm not even remotely bothered about winning the Carabao Cup or even the FA Cup any more. What I want, after nearly 60 years of following THFC is to see us win the Premier League and become English champions.
As much as I loved Burkenshaw, Jol and Redknapp for what they gave us all as fans in terms of pure excitement, we were nowhere near becoming champions way back then and now, all these years later, we're still nowhere near it, even with what I consider to be our greatest manager since Billy Nick in charge. So loving those guys is one thing, but it gets us nothing.
Ever since the silly money turned up making financially doped clubs out of Chelsea and City, we've been also-rans in the Premier League title race and I hate it. That's what I meant.
.
Of course, the opposition fans and pundits alike that use the no trophies line as a stick to beat Poch and the club with don't see the progression we have made since Poch came in, and even before so when Jol was in charge (who in my mind was the start of our rise up the league to now).Sorry mate my mistake. From your post I assumed you were one of the school-of-Paul-Merson "yeah but ee aint eva won naffink, haz ee?" lot who think winning the Carabao Cup but finishing 7th is a better season than finishing top 4 and reaching the CL final.
Yeah it's hard because as much as it's easy to say we've not won the league, we've still come a long long way between when Jol first took over and where we are now as a club. Not winning the league doesn't take away from that for me, especially in the era of financial doping.
For most of us that is or was the dream but you have to come to terms with this not happening otherwise your just drive yourself nuts. You completely mis-understand the point I was making. It won't happen matePlease, bring in Mourinho now!
How come? Not impossible. It won't happen mate
Levy will stick and not twist although poch has lost his way.How come? Not impossible.
Don`t mean to be rude, but I guess neither you or me really know what Levy really thinks. We havn`t been fly on the wall in his office. I guess Levy wanted to show patience and give Poch time, but Levy also knows the numbers and in what direction this goes. I think he`s thinking about what to do right now. Poch is not untouchable forever.Levy will stick and not twist although poch has lost his way.
I agree and your not being rude none of us know what is good on behind the scenes but on the pitch I think we can all see what is happening and not happening.Don`t mean to be rude, but I guess neither you or me really know what Levy really thinks.
