I would look at the next four games.
Newcastle away
Blackburn away
Bolton home
Sunderland away
That is tough, we need to apply the level of committment shown today to stand a chance in beating the likes of Newcastle, Blackburn and Sunderland away.
The good thing is that we are so dangerous on the counter I can see us picking up points on the road. Add to the fact that Dawson and Gallas look impressive together we could edge quite a few away games.
But thats only 1 point from our last two games, we need to be looking to beat Newcastle. They'll be missing their little enforcer, I think we stand a decent chance.
We need at least 7 points from those 4 games to just stay in touch. Anything more than 7 would be an excellent return.
It's looking a bit tasty now isn't it Mr. Pink?!
I think it's more helpful to look at the dates of the games, as it gives us a bit more context as to freshness and fitness of players...
Tue 15th Feb AC Milan (A)
Tue 22nd Feb Blackpool (A)
Sun 6th March Wolves (A)
Wed 9th March AC Milan (H)
Sat 19th March West Ham (H)
Sat 2nd April Wigan (A)
Sat 9th April Stoke (H)
I really fancy our chances.
we should get 15 points from that lot. i worry about the players focus for the wolves game, with the pending AC milan game. we also play on a sunday afternoon. we should have been on the saturday.
SHOULD, but probably wont. This is football, things rarely go according to plan.
I said at the time that losing the FA Cup tie against Fulham could be a blessing in disguise in terms of less fixture congestion and that could be the difference in the run in, although i'd gladly add a few more Champions League fixtures in between!
losing to fulham may well turn out to be the best resut of the season
