I’d rather we only made 3 chances all game and scored all of them, than 300 chances and only take 1.
An exaggeration I know but it felt a bit like that, and they have 2 breakaways and they score twice 🤷🏼‍♀️

I can almost forgive some of the wastefulness as both our strikers are injured...although it's still not good.

But our defensive naivety is ludicrous and we won't win many games if we carry on that way.

Plus the lack of quality in our midfield is now too glaring to ignore.

Those are the things that are worrying for the season ahead.
You are right about our midfield... Biss is not the answer... and Bentancur has not been himself after his injuries...

The high line... well... it works sometimes. And sometimes it doesn't... The high line is not only about defence. It's also about the midfield...

The second goal today. You need to cut the passer. And one defender is not watching the offside-trap.... but we decide to go for the winning goal instead of stepping back 10-15m...

It's a mixture of us still lacking some quality and cool heads... and adjusting here and there.

I'm not that worried in terms of our progress under Ange and the setup The problem is. Some can wait a bit longer than others. 😉 ... I think we will be fine. But of course we won't be a title contender in the PL this season. It's a battle for 4th-6th IMO.

Soft as f*cking sh*t and wasteful, we so lack intelligence and composure with our final ball and decision making and Richarlison’s constant niggling injuries are so frustrating, any sort of half decent presence of a Centre Forward and we get something from that game.

I’d rather have a player half that value who can be relied on be available for selection rather than someone who is nearly always unavailable when we really need him. I know some might say what about Solanke he’s injured too but I’m putting money on the fact he will not spend large parts of the season being unavailable.

When has Richarlison been available for selection a run of 10 plus straight games, answer never ! It’s always, a handful of games and then out for the next 10, and so the f*cking cycle continues. I’m sorry for the rant but I just can’t see things ever changing with him and it’s cost us time and time again and it will in the future.

It’s no good being better than the opposition everywhere else if they’re streets ahead of you when it comes to converting chances. If we don’t start becoming more clinical quickly it’s going to be a long season. On the other hand if we do become clinical then we could be a hell of a team. It’s a fine line between being a joy to watch and a joke, but fuck me I’m tired of being on the wrong side of that line.

I’m massively pissed off that we’ve been much the better team in all 3 games and only have 4 points. It’s in danger of all becoming a bit ‘Potter’s Brighton’ for me.

We currently look like a Potter-era Brighton style side that will play some nice football against anyone, but not seriously trouble any of the big clubs over the course of the season. Ironically Brighton themselves might be going places.
Nailed it.

All fur coat and no knickers.

We needed to sign Eze and we signed a 19yr old from Burnley.

Richy not accepting the Saudi offer has screwed us quite a bit tbh, if he has we could’ve signed another top attacking player who can stay fit which might have made the difference today.

That being said we concede carbon copy goals under Ange which is a huge cocnern.

Ange possibly the cheaper version of Slot. The Odobert to the Eze?…

*Btw absolutely nothing against Odobert, he’s a talented raw 19yr old but we needed players who can impact games and score goals not just lots of raw 18-19yr olds*

We all said only adding Solanke to improve our 1st team wasn’t anywhere near enough.

We didn't even manage to score one goal ourselves despite having a good 15 or so situations where you'd think they have to score here

You mean like Mourinho and Conte’s tactics with a clinical Kane and Son?

The negative tactics which many of our fans hated.

that half price player that would be available the second he joins us would need his leg amputated

I think people’s reactions to this result comes downs to expectations

if you think we have some promising kids, know under Levy we won’t ever push the boat out and are happy to watch pretty football, the team develop over a few seasons to eventually have a crack at 4th with hopefully a decent cup run now and again then this is all quite promising

If you are still of the mindset that the stadium was meant to be a game changer to challenge for trophies, we have the finances to be signing elite players, have the most expensive tickets in the land, are a bit concerned that we have a one dimensional tactical set up that is easily exploited and will continually hamper progress until it’s sorted and that we have a manager who’s highest level experience prior to Spurs was Scottish football so you really have no idea if he can adapt - then a results like today is quite concerning

I think I’m somewhere in the middle. Think there are ultimately some more talented and better coached teams in the league than us but clinging to some hope the 18 Yos we have signed will turn into world beaters

Can’t be fucked trying to address the numerous quotes, because fuck it lads you’re right, everything’s shite, it’s all hopeless. I didn’t just watch a game we win 9 times out of 10. We’re going nowhere. See you all in two weeks for more miseryjerking.
But we don’t win 9 out of 10 games when we play like this, we consistently dominate large parts of games but concede soft goals that cost us. We have 4 points from 3 games, 2 against relegation candidates and 1 game against a top 8/10 team. Not good enough.

Maddison was better than he has been for a while BUT on 70 minutes he had nothing left in the tank and nor had Bissouma.

Why Ange couldn't see this is a mystery.

Subs 5 minutes earlier and we don't lose and just maybe win.

One thing I would say is that I'd rather have had Lankshear on the bench and put him up front instead of moving Son there in the second half.

Well I didn’t expect us to completely dominate the game at St James and I certainly enjoyed that performance more than our last few visits there

I also prefer this brand of football to the negative Conte/Jose years. Yes it is very high risk, perhaps crazily so, but we’ve now completely dominated three games out of three and I’ll reserve my own meltdown until we actually have a striker on the pitch and still lose these games.

Fine margins. I’m not worried about our attack. If we keep playing like this the goals will come.

I do however worry about how weak we are defensively at critical times doing a match. It’s just too easy to score against this Spurs team.

you really thought we had the game in control ?
9 out of 10 times we would have won today ??? If you are really thinking this way you are deluded like it or not.

Let me tell you why ….I said this here in same thread pregame as well

Newcastle may have conceded possession in 2nd half , their plan was simple - leave 2v2 up pitch and defend and hit the 2 men upfront - try to make it a individual battle upfront. It just have to work once .
And it did .

In the middle is totally reasonable. Unfortunately, in general we have the most unrealistic fans in the league bar none.

Odobert on the right did not look like a natural fit.

The second goal was just stupid. First Maddison gets rolled far too easily in midfield, he should've taken the man out but we never make smart fouls so nothing different there.

Romero hold the high line, Dragusin drops and Porro and Udogie are stuck between the two.
