You don’t need XG stats to tell you that, but it’s a useful measure. Although we don’t conceded many chances the ones we do are gilt edged, while at the other end we don’t great many great chances, it’s a real problem and has been for a while… I’ve been hoping it will just “click” for a while now and maybe having a striker on the pitch will help with that.

Johnson created chances putting the ball along the 6 yard box but Son, especially, made wrong decisions. The first one It’s almost 2 on 2 and Son makes a back post run when the obvious run was to the near post and Guimeres cuts it out. Johnson again puts a great ball into the 6 yard box but Son has stopped his run waiting for a cut back that was never on. Add to that twice Johnson was in in goal from the right but first Son then Kulusevski ignored him and Sin Shit, with bodies in front of him and Kulusevski tried a much harder pass to the left. Johnson has every right to be pissed at them.
Has to be said though that Johnson should have scored. Did the hard work controlling the ball deceiving the defender and then skied it. Probably the best clear cut chance we had.
I only got to see the last 30 minutes today as I screwed up my recording on Sunday and I’m baffled by the Werner hate. He was in the pitch 20 minutes didn’t see a lot of the ball and although he didn’t do anything great he didn’t do anything really bad. Too many people with an agenda. He was responsible for renewing his loan and he sure has he’ll want responsible for any signings we missed out on.
