Im no tactical genius but I can tell you one thing.

I'd rather watch us play like we have the last 3 games and finish 6th and win nothing than watch another second of Jose or Conte ball and scrape 4th.

Look forward to spending the next two weeks reading about how we “totally dominated” and “we’re in complete control” from posters who still don’t realise that the smart teams deliberately allow us to have the ball in order to hit us on the break…
Yes, this. Although there was no sign of their winner coming, you could see it coming a mile off. Any one of us could have shut our eyes this morning, and on the prompt of «Newcastle away», pictured Isak stroking in exactly that goal.

I dont know why we always have to go to Jose & Conte and compare.

Why not compare time of Harry or peak Poch ?

With the back 5 or 6 we have - we should be able to defend well AND we should be able to attack well with the forwards we have.

We dont have to compromise. Pep side has won 4 in a row by being a great attacking side, but also being a mean defensive side.

Its not rocket science to do this. Whether its Real Madrid or Liverpool or City or even the current Arse - can defend well and attack well at same time.

We had two strikers and our best defender out in a game where by every metric, except goals scored, we were the better side.
And our last two visits to St James Park were absolute batterings so I'd argue things have improved.

Things have improved so well, that a defeat is now considered a improvement.

This tells us everything we need to know about our game at the moment. Johnson put in a good cross and not a single other player is in the right place for a tap in.

Lineker used to take exception when commentators used to claim he was always in the right place at the right time when in fact he tried to be in the right place every time because 9 times out of 10 your teammate wouldn't put in the pass/cross so he needed to make sure that he was always there for the 1 time that they did.

I do find it weird that we see this so often in games when in the training videos all we see is the winger pass across the box and the striker taps it in. Why don’t we see it in games?

Again I think there would be a lot more willingness to be patient if it looked as if Ange was trying to rectify some of the issues we keep seeing.

But I'm not sure we're seeing that at all.
I think he is and I think we can see that.
We're a lot tougher to play through than we were last season and a lot more in control of games, the only real thing that's let us down so far is our finishing (or being in the position to try and finish).
Once that clicks, or we get our strikers back, we'll be a tough challenge for any team imo.

I think its down to natural instincts. Son (or Kane in past) , rarely been those scoring tap in goal in the front post. Richarlison can do it, Solanke as well. So, atleast on attacking perspective, once we get back them, they will make these runs. Its the open midfield the worry.

Losing like that, with Andy Hinchcliffe yapping away, could be used as torture to break the hardest of bastards

Has to better than Werner coming on and doing nothing.
Werner looked completely anonymous when he came on when his job this season is literally to up the tempo as a sub.

Not sure there's much justification for him even being on the bench in the next game.

I don't know, I'd say it's pretty obvious that we have been putting in work on set pieces. So it's not as if they are idly sitting back just waiting for it to click.

Exactly - Finishing is least of my concerns.

Even set pieces - theres some marked improvement.

My biggest concern is lack of balance in not being defensively well set up when we attack. Currently Balance is nonexistent - simply Ange is depending on individual brilliance of our GK & CB.

Normally after a defeat I get over it within the hour. Today I can't shake the feeling of frustration and annoyance off. It's really got to me today.
I think the feeling of the same shit over and over and over has finally got to me.
Only took 63 years.....🙄

Either all out defend or all out attack? How we could set up and choose to play is far from that binary.

This squad is the real deal.
This back 5 is the real deal.
We have 3 forwards Son,Solanke, Richy who collectively scored 47 PL goals last season.
We have one of the best back 5 or 6 in the league
We have some fantastic young players who are on brink of breaking through in PL

Yet, MOST FRUSTRATING part for me, is Ange the manager, is so stubborn in setting his team like he is still in SPL.
You can play your attacking philosophy in PL as well, like Pep does - but you need a balance.

If Ange gets this and implements the needed balance - he has the squad to win things. If he remain stubborn, he wont last long.

Its on him really
