Not sure if this is the place for it but wondering what people thought about the atmosphere in the new stadium. I know things aren't going well at the moment but have we become Arsenal? Anything other than fast flowing, attacking , winning football just isn't good enough?

I'm a ST in the South Lower and have a group near me who do nothing but call our players ****s, shout abuse and basically just piss and moan. My ST in the old ground was Paxton lower and so I picked the opposite end and the big kop style stand to be with the really passionate supporters - little did I know the passion would be channelled into complaining.

The guest blog below (short and sweet) covers my feelings quite well.

Im in the south lower too and I’m disgusted at the atmosphere. I try to sing every game but there’s thousands of people in my block who do absolutely nothing and show zero emotion during the game. It’s like they are all robots.

There needs to be a singing section made, we all get lost among the tourists even in the south stand. If we're together it works better

If the ticket map is to be believed then Sunday's women's game could be a WSL record breaker , all the lower tiers plus south stand almost sold out and now a couple of upper tier blocks opened up . Record to beat is 31,213 at Etihad, the 24,564 at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea v Spurs women is a bit false as tickets were free. It's amazing what a new stadium does , how many would have turned up for a Women's game at OWHL. Just hope the Spurs women can hold out against a superior Woolwich team.

Emirates have announced Killers concert for June. Can’t remember last time they held a concert. Most likely just trying to oppose us. I’d guess we will hear very soon about concerts next summer.

For me, for next season, I like to see the cameras swapped back to their old position opposite.
For these reasons:

1. The Park Lane has always been on the left on the TV, the west stand in front. I find myself having to reorientate myself every time. I'm having to convert from old WHL memories/references.
Some might say WHL has gone, there is no Park Lane. This is a totally new ground so get with it daddio. Well in that case, it doesn't feel like home.

2. I can't see the bench. I know we get highlights of MP when VAR has intervened or we have conceded again. But I quite liked to see what was happening real time, who he was calling over, how animated he was at events, who was warming up. You used to get a view of all that, and the camera would naturally zoom in there too when nothing interesting was happening. I miss that.

3. As the main camera pans from side to side, we mostly see the front rows of the east stand and the far ends of the north and south stands. Given the middle block is pretty inert, with corporates, royalty and ambassadors, it seems there are as many away fans as home fans. Obviously the away fans often make more noise than the home fans - that has been the case for a long while. They are more animated. But now as they have a long stretch of pitch-side seats, I'm having to watch them too.
When ever Danny Rose kicks someone in the air along by the East stand, seemingly the whole ground are wildly protesting, and demanding a red card... as that is the frame the TV cameras are presenting. I don't want to see it!

Thanks for that, I'll be buying a couple tickets now when they go on sale.

They've done as good a job as they possibly can on the new ground. It really is fantastic but it will just never be the old WHL unfortunately.
I'm still impressed by how much the bowl "feels" like the old one despite obviously being much bigger. It must be something to do with the relative sizes and angles of the tiers.

Unlikely to happen for EUFA games , short extract from recommendations for all stadia ,

Orientation
When planning the orientation of the pitch, the primary consideration is its position in relation to the sun and prevailing wind. In Europe, a north-south orientation is generally considered best, as it means that, in the evening, the setting sun will not hinder the vision of one team more than the other. Assuming a north-south orientation, the main TV camera positions should be in the west stand (main stand) to avoid problems caused by the glare of the sun.

That all seems sensible, but is just a guide. Wembley stadium is East West orientation.
And I'm sure camera glare isn't a problem in large stadiums - it wasn't a problem for 50 years at old WHL.
The main camera will be pointing down. And there are cameras all around the pitch these days for VAR and the 3D effects - they seem to cope.

I guess we can all adapt to the new stadium in time, including the new camera position.
And I guess the managers prefer that they are out the spotlight as they rant and rave, and dig out opponents eyes etc.

But the away fans are having too much fun for my liking. They have a long stretch of seats right by the touchline and to me they are able to assert significant pressure on the officials. I'd rather they were all fitted vertically in half the North stand with the lower East stand taunting them as they did when away fans were in the park lane.

Of course I've only a TV view of this - maybe the away fans don't seem as prominent and influential when you are actually there.

While they're at it can they lower the gantry too as the coverage is far too high, like watching subbuteo men at some stadiums.

I wonder how set in stone the 16 non football events are as a number. I reckon they could easily fit 25-30 if no restrictions. Especially if you had say a music artist playing 2-3 nights consecutively. Maybe in next 10 years when high street west is developed it might be possible. Would be huge financially.

RE WHL station: Please bear with us as we allow the new station operations to bed in. Although the station has been upgraded, the new rolling stock has not yet been introduced and train capacity remains the same. There is a full 6 trains per hour service

Anyone know when the new rolling stock will be introduced to boost train capacity? The trains were a joke on Tuesday!
